Default Anyone have a pool cover? I need help.

I need a way to prevent pollen from going into the pool. It happens too often and then the pool has to be shocked. We don't shock or do pool maintenance for a plethora of reasons. I'm interested in looking into a pool cover but it has to be custom made as my pool is such an odd shape. Any suggestions or people I can reach out to please? Much appreciated in advance. Sonja

You can’t keep pollen out of the pool. When you roll up the cover or it rains the pollen will still wind up in the pool. Proper pool maintenance is the way to keep your water balanced properly.

Exactly. Pollen will get in with a cover or without. I haven't covered our pool since day 1 and there are no issues as long as you check the water weekly.

I have a pool service once a week. I'm not sure what else to do. Anyone have any other recommendations? Thanks.

I've had pools for 52 years. There is no avoiding maintenance either by yourself or hiring someone to take your $$ for a simple task once a week. As the others have stated a cover will not help.

Maybe your best maintenance would be to drain it, fill it with dirt, and plant a garden.
Oh, I forgot, they require maintenance too.

I’m not sure what your question is. There are hundreds (if not thousands of pools here in The Villages). What is special about yours?

No need for that. I'm from NYC where we have neither pools nor gardens. I'm willing to pay someone who actually knows what they are doing. You were rude to me for no reason whatsoever. We're supposed to be a friendly community, remember?

Our son used Pinch A Penny Pool patio Spas for his custom poll cover in Rockledge FL. They have a store on 441/27 near Sam's club and may be able to help you with a cover. As stated above I am not sure it will solve your problem.

Sometime back I had a custom contoured pool with pool cover. The cover was a floater made of plastic much like the bubble wrap for packages. It was easy to cut with scissors to the custom shape.

Thats a thermal cover, it keeps the pool from losing heat at night

OP - you need some level of pool maintenance, either pay someone to do it or get your water tested every 10 to 14 days at a pool store. The pool store will tell you what to do.

If you filter your water, pollen wont be able to stay on your pool, filtering moves your water. I think you may need to talk to a pool maintenance guy for help.

I don't understand how you ever have a clear pool if you don't shock or maintain your pool. It doesn't matter if pollen gets in. The pool will not stay clear, and if not properly maintained or shocked when needed, it will never clear up.

Check out trouble free pool. It's an awesome site run by retired pool professionals that will give you the good information - not try to sell you a bunch of chemicals you don't need.

Default maybe you misunderstood?

I have a weekly pool maintenance person come weekly. So I'm not sure what you were talking about when you said you don't understand....

I dont think its pollen, its algae. If you are filtering your pool, the pollen would move to the filter outlet, and get caught in the filter.
I’ve been involved with pools most of my life, owning, managing, opening, etc - all in the northeast. None of them had covers in the summer and none had pollen on/in them.

Look for another pool company.
