Good Luck! You can't buy the wall unit online - all sites state -"out of stock". It's been that way for several months. Take it off the wall and use compressor to blow the dust off the back.. I now use one of my hand held opens to do the function.

Default Single button control

I replaced my dead wall controller with a single button...

This amazon part B09GV8ZNPY

Cost $8. I mounted it on a wall plate....

Mounted on this...

This Lowes part 1001456732

Cost .72

You have to drill some holes in the plate to mount the switch and connect 2 wires.

Single button controls up and down of the door. Pressing the button while its opening or closing will pause the door.

TOV wont let me post web links....becuz Im a newbie to posting.

Cheers
Bob

Great step by step description to fix the problem.
I did the exact same thing a couple of months ago and it solved my problems.
The only thing I would add is to turn off the breaker 1st and then clean those dirty contact points with a paper towel soaked with alcohol.

Unplugged the unit from the ceiling. Two screws held it into the garage wall. Then a white and a blue thin wire connected it to the wiring. After disconnecting those two wires, and writing down which one went where.. the unit was free.

Next there were eight small screws holding the circuit board in the casing, as well as the two screws that had held the power wires.

After removing the 10 screws the board came free and now I could remove the board and get to the front of the unit. The rubbery cover that has the buttons pulled off easily. There are tiny posts that fit into little holes in the board so it will go back exactly right later.

I found that the circuit board where the up and down buttons pushed had a black rubbery residue where the push button pads made contact. So I very gently wiped that residue off carefully not scratching the board. Got about 70% off with just a paper towel and quit as I didn't want to damage the circuit board. No chemical cleaner, just a touch of water on a paper towel.

Replace parts in reverse order. Attach the two power wires, screw back into the wall and put the plug back in the outlet. And so far, it is working nicely. YMMV

Obviously this is not a permanent solution.

Why not read the thread where people are stating they are sold out everywhere?

Has anyone installed one of these Linear controls and it worked properly?

I remember reading a customer review on Amazon several months ago that said they had replaced the Allstar wall control with the Linear and it worked, but I cannot find it now. So, I guess one thing you can do is to buy one, and if it doesn't work, return it to Amazon. You don't need to mount it on the wall. You only need to remove the Allstar wall console and connect 2 wires to see if it works. Good luck.

From Amazon reviews
Is this the actual "Linear" brand?
Answer:I don’t think so. Mine was not linear but the replacement worked beautifully

Yes it is and works like a charm. Just make sure to connect the wires correctly. Do what I did and connect 1 at a time.

Join the other 50,000 people looking for those. My garage guy said just hook up a doorbell switch, or buy an entirely different opener.

OP, you are better off just biting the bullet and getting a new opener. The MVP chain drive is so loud compared to a belt drive. I bought a Chamberlain belt drive last year for $180 and it comes with the MyQ app that lets me know if I left the door open. I also set the door to close at 10PM if it's open in case I forget to close it. And it also included an outdoor keypad and has the high security rolling codes.

I agree with replacing with a chamberlain, I did this for myself, then a few neighbors. If you are careful, you can use the existing front track mount, and the existing ceiling rails, as well as the existing wiring. This cuts down on the installation time. While I have the chain drive unit, I did help install 3 belt drive units, and they are really quiet.

How much are you going to pay for it? VS buying a new one??
