Default My garage door opener arrived at the Gate in Washington, D.C.

I had gone to one of the Villages' area dog parks in my visiting family member's rental car and brought along my garage door opener.

Realized that it was still in the rental car after the family member had left for the Orlando airport but before the family member had actually got to Orlando.

So my garage door opener just got to one of the DC area airports.

The family member had visited the Villages in 2004 and really liked what was here and convinced my parents to move here in the Summer of 2005.

So a little of the wonder of the Villages is now in DC. But will soon make a return trip via Federal Express.

And I will have to use the 2nd garage door opener which only works when it feels like it.

I keep a checklist for rental car return. Garage door opener, door keys, phone and phone charger, poncho and other things like a small flashlight I like to keep in whatever vehicle I drive.

That is a good idea.

Well, I used to travel at least twice a month so I had a checklist for what to do at my house as well. I always disabled the garage door opener, turned off the toilet and washing machine water valves, locked my file cabinets, set thermostats lower or higher, put a couple lamps on timers, stopped the mail and newspapers and so on.

As I have always been a little absent minded, even back in my school years, I need to use checklists.

After leaving a few expensive sunglasses in rentals and one time a trunk load of beach chairs that I forgot to take out of the trunk of a rental before driving to the airport I check EVERYWHERE in the rental twice

This is also important when you you've taken a 'loaner car' from the dealership for the day or overnight...that's were I'd be apt to forget that little plastic card that opens the gates in TV....and anything of mine that was black...as most of the loner cars seem to have a black interior

I should be back with two garage door openers by tomorrow as it is on its way back home to the Villages. It is travelling from the DC area.

My family member lives in a house whose previous renter was/is(?) a member of the Old Guard who patrol Arlington Cemetery at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Arlington National Cemetery > Explore > Changing of the Guard
