Default Our thoughts and prayers are for all of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice

After watching the PBS annual Memorial Day tribute to our veterans of all wars, past and present.........we were so touched with the stories told.

The dialogue between Gary Senise and Joe Montegna about the two brothers in the National Guard (I think)....was overwhelming, especially when they showed the widow and remaining brother.......

Ditto for the vets of the Korean War....and those remaining from World War II.........and especially our wounded warriers of today..........makes one really contemplate what they all sacrificed.

Then we got to thinking.........that although we've had uncles in World War Two, plus the Korean Conflict....and brother in laws who were in Viet Nam, we could think of no one in our two families who perished in any of the wars. Ours all came home to go on with their lives......never really spoke much about their experiences. My uncle and Godfather was in the medics corps in the Marianna Islands, South Pacific.......his group had to take the dog tags off of the bodies......of the deceased.....and that's all he would ever say. Others drove trucks with supplies..........in Europe. My older brother was a photographer in Korea.......one uncle was a parachuter in Korean Conflict.

But the PBS tribute was excellent, as always.......and makes one so very humble to think of all of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice......in all wars.........and the supporting families left behind.

Our little cemetery here always has American flags on all the graves for Memorial Day when we go to clean my mom's gravesite....and put down flowers........

It's always such a moving ceremony watching the president lay the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Thanks to all the posters on TOTV who served, for their service to this country.
