With all those great ideas.

If I were a kid now, and knew what I know now, that would be an incredible place to go to high school! The facilities and industry-focused curriculums are amazing. The update video is on the website.

I wonder if home values will go up higher, or be lower, than the age-restricted areas? Over time of course.

I wonder if someone is 30 years old working at Johnny Rockets or Publix, or directly by The Villages and their kid(s) goes to school at The Villages Charter Schools, what happens if they stop working there? Do we have to sell their house and leave? Is there a certain vestment period, do they have to work for The Villages or a 3rd party in The Villages for a certain number of years, like 3, before their kid(s) are "qualified" to attend Villages schools?
The Villages Charter School website has a PDF document outlining eligibility. There's various categories of eligibility and eligibility can be checked monthly. I assume for home ownership, you probably have to be a certain category and have been employed for a certain amount of time.

Where did you read home ownership?

Looks fabulous! And, there was a quick image of a neighbor with regular sidewalks...

I's like SimCity in the real world.

Is it a stretch to feel that since the schools are essentially funded from profits, everyone who has purchased a new home here helped fund construction of the schools?

Anyone who buys a home in Middleton can live there.

The neighborhood in the clip with sidewalks, playgrounds, etc. is most likely Oxford Oaks (family area developed by The Villages). I imagine the neighborhoods in Middleton will be modeled after Oxford Oaks.

Or it’s an investment by the developer to attract employees to the area, so we have nurses, doctors, barbers, servers, etc.

Some good ideas in education but seems to me to be a lot like indentured servitude. What other controls are insisted on?

Also hope the sheriffs department’s new golf cart will be used to patrol the multimodal paths community wide, even though they claimed it would not. Need a fleet of them now, as it is.

Any one can own a home in the family neighborhood. You don’t have to have kids, or be employed by TV, to live there. The employment requirement is for a child to attend the charter school. My guess is that the school tracks employment. If a parent no longer works for TV, the child may not continue attending school there but the family is welcome to live there for however long.

A child can begin attending the school as soon as employment begins, BUT with the current school acceptance is by lottery and wait list. Being employed by TV doesn’t guarantee admittance, it just makes it possible.

Thanks for the link! I’m excited to see. :-)

School taxes will likely become a more significant part of the equation for resident Villagers. The vast infrastructure needed to support the "worker bee" community equates to a burden on all of us. Unless, of course, The Developer is gifting this to the community at large.
