People, can we react less extremely?
The OP has a problem that affects daily life. The neighbor may think their fence solved all their dog problems.
Suggest to OP:
You can complain on here, but why not talk to the neighbor and find out if they are unaware or if they just do not care?

Let me get this straight. The dogs are pooping on your neighbors property who owns the dogs. You are complaining? Are you a dig owner? Man, we can't win. You teach them to poop in their own yard and people are still complaining? Stop already, it doesn't bother some folks if the dogs poop in thier own yard.

I agree totally with you. It is going to take an awful lot of dogs**t to create a smell. Our neighbors in KC has 4 large dogs on the north side of us and our wind is predominantly from the north. He cleans his yard about once a month and I never smell his dogs droppings.

OP, sell your house. Market prices are up and I don't see this ending happily. Dog lovers :doggie: living next to dog haters never work out. :ohdear:

Wow! With all the worlds problems. Do you know your neighbors? Do you talk to them? Anything in common? Do you play cards with them? Reach out. Make friends. I doubt that there are many people in the Villages who truly want to PO their neighbors.

It should not get down to considering moving unless their is more than dog poop.

After you speak with them and if nothing is done about the problem, either live with it or move.
I've always wondered why folks here move a lot. ( I know a few that have moved 3 times). I think it's to get away from troublesome neighbors.
I managed RV parks for many years. So many times people had to be moved because of dog barking, dog pooping, cigar smoker ( not the dog), too noisy, fighting, etc, etc. (of course moving an RV is a whole lot easier than moving from a house).......but, it's all the same.
Our homes here in TV are so close that it can be a real pain to deal with an issue that a neighbor is creating.

GRUMP BUCKETS!!!!...Dbussone, you have found a charming but perfectly accurate expression. If not in the dictionary, it should be. I believe it will be used often on TOTV.

I don't think people understand, it is not only the smell, but it also attracts rodents! Same with all that dead fruit under your fruit trees. PICK IT UP PEOPLE!!!!

Sandtrap328 11-23-2014 07:53 AM

Dog poop attracts rodents? No, they are attracted by food and they do not eat that stuff.

Flies, yes but not rodents.

Picking up dead fruit should be a separate thread. OMG!

Sadly, I think we do understand and most of us truly sympathize. Just because we make jokes doesn't mean we're not feeling bad for you. We are. No one should have to smell tschit when sitting on their lanai.

The reality is I don't think there is much you can legally do other than ask them to pick it up more often because of the smell. It is their yard. I'm guessing they do their own lawn since most lawn services insist poop be picked up.

Perhaps you should speak with the dog(s) directly. See link for how to approach the situation.
