I just moved in and was scheduled to have 2 PODS delivered to my (Designer Home)driveway on thursday. Well the first POD arrived at 9am and the POD guy said where do you want it ,,,I told him and reminded him that I had another one comming later in theday for I had Professional movers unloading me on friday..the next day. Well after playing wiht the POD for a while the POD amn said I could not get 2 PODS side by side and that I would have to have the first POD unloaded and then they would deliver the 2nd POD. I told him totlaly unacceptable. NOw he would have had to place a small portion of the POD on my grass and over one sprinkler head but I told him I would sign a waiver and if he was careful that would not be a problem as long as it did not sit directly on the sprinker head itself. He still said NO. I demanded to talk to his manager and he said he would call me back...BUT I would not let the POD truck leave until I talked to the manager for what was I to do. I then talked to the manager and he said that I need to let the driver go (which I did) and that he asked the driver to take pictures adn he would review then and get back to me by noon. I was frustrated as to what was I going to do. Depending upon which POD this was I knnw I could not unload heavy furniture and it would cost me $200-300 to bring in another crew. I then called Tampa (POD HQ) and they were to call to see what the proiblem was.
YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED NEXT. A neighbor who I met one or twice before came and knocked on my front door and asked me if I wanted to play golf that afternoon. When he came I was in the middle of my conversation with POD HQ and over heard the option of unloading teh first POD in order to accept the second. HE said "LETS DO IT". So as we started I was very fortunate that this pod had mostly boxes and odds and ends but not the HEAVY China or bedroom tripple dressers etc. As my wife is comming home in the gold cart from her water areobics she asks what in the world are we doign adn OH by the way say HI to our best new neighbor Nickki??? BTW the new neighbor told me next time he was going to ask me to play golf he would send me an email!!!
TO say the least, My new neighbor saved the day for my wife and I...when the POD manager did call he started to tell me that I have an unusual situation and before he could say anything I just stopped him and told him the POD is empty and deliver the 2nd pod. When the 2nd pod was delivered they sent a "lead "driver and I founfd out thgat my first driver was only on the job 3 weeks and he just did not want to screw up and cause any property damge, but what he did not understand is the level of intensity that a family or individual goes through during a move. This LEAD Driver told me about the rookie and that YES I could have placed a 2nd pod on the driveway no problem but with caution.

MORALE of this story is if you are getting 2 or more PODS delivered be very weary of having them delivered at the same time and trying to schedule MOvers such as Arthur Martins to help you unload both pods at the same time. BTW Arthur MArtin was great in dealing with the heavy furniture and finishing the move from the first POD that we just placed in the garage.

I used SmartMove. They delivered three pods to my designer home, two in driveway and one on lawn. No problem. Sorry you had such a bad experience. Smart Move used UPS to move their pods and supplies professional movers if you wish. My movers arrived same time and unloaded in less than two hours. I would highly recommend them.

Whew! Glad it all worked out in the end.... We're not there now but hope we'll have a chance to meet at a TOTV lunch at Crispers during some point that we are in our TV home. Good luck getting settled--and congratulations again!!!
