So, here's an interesting story from earlier today.

A few days ago, someone (I forget his username) started a thread discussing what NASA scientists had to say about global warming and its causes. There were about 3 pages of responses that both agreed and disagreed with his post. It was there early this AM, and then at about 7:30----poof---it vanished from cyberspace. Not closed, just gone completely, not even found with the search function.

I then started a thread asking how this could happen and if this has happened before. I did not suggest any possibilities (obvious or otherwise). Within 1 hour, that thread disappeared without a trace as well.

I then started another thread that simply suggested I might be having a very specific computer glitch. That was gone inside of 10 minutes.

So, what do we all think happened here? I'm going to suggest some hacker with the skills needed to remove threads from TOTV and who disagreed with the OP's thread broke into the TOTV server and removed it and 2 subsequent threads questioning its absence. Draw your own conclusions but be careful about what you suggest.

Verrrrry interesting! Not the first time threads have disappeared without a trace. Makes one wonder, did someone unknowingly type in a forbidden magic spell? Like in the old horror movies, were the scientist unwittingly reads the spell that awakens the mummy.
Unlikely, but whatever the reason, it is odd that a thread where a bunch of retirees are playing keyboard tug-o-war on any subject is made to disappear.

Even though you and I were on different sides of the debate, I don't recall anyone who posted something that would blatantly violate the rules of the site. And the other 2 threads didn't have enough time to get any responses. Probably the "anonymous hacker with the ability to make threads vanish" had their own agenda

If a thread breaks down to posters name calling - the whole thing will be deleted. Just like if it gets the slightest trace of being political.

The thread in question was deleted because the original post had the terms “Liberals” and “Leftist Politicians” in it. That’s why it was pulled down. We’re pretty sure that our position is clear about politics by now.
