Default Need help with Trane thermostat.

We removed the cover of the thermostat to paint we put it back on and it is not working. We have checked the breaker and it is fine. Anyone have any idea what could be the problem?

If you only removed the cover?? Then you could have a broken wire. Open it up and look very carefully at the wires, touch each one without pulling too hard. The thermostat wires are single wire (not twisted multiwire) and are susceptable to breaking at the end of the insulation. One reason they break there, is because the wire could have been nicked when the insulation was removed and a small movement could complete the break. Also do you have anything showing in the display? Remove the battery and put it back in or replace it.

Thanks Renrod!!!

Just as I was reading your reply my husband with re-checking the wires and one had pulled loose. It wasn't broken but the wire was the problem. He reconnected the wire and all is good.

I love the helpful and knowledgeable people on TOTV.

I can't find any identification on my thermostat to tell me what model Trane thermostat I have in my home in Amelia. Does anyone have a guess?

You may want to start here. They have on line manuals.
