Default Need help with Wash DC visit

Will be spending a few days end of June in Wash DC. Have tours planned for Engraving and Printing Bureau, Capital and White House. Will be driving to DC from Florida and then heading north when DC trip is fin ished. Looking for suggestions on where to stay in DC (not looking to break the bank).

Cool

I asked the same question a couple weeks ago. Here's a link to the thread with some very good recommendations:

Travel to Washington D.C.

Enjoy your trip!

If you are not afraid to use the very fast and good Metro transit train, you might find a hotel in the suburbs near a Metro station and ride to inner DC attractions. Ask the hotel you are considering about the nearest Metro station.

Be sure to plan some time at the Smithsonian (and its various museums). A great treasure house for all of America. If you have never been to Arlington National Cemetery, you should go (and bring a handkerchief or 3 or 4) - a reminder that in of her times of need, Americans have stepped forward to defend our country.

The end of June is also the Smithsonian Folklife Festival on the Mall.

I agree with the suggestion about getting a hotel close to a Metro station. Driving in downtown DC is not for the inexperienced and parking is costly.

I suggest the Hyatt in Bethesda, Maryland. It is one block from a Metro stop and there are many restaurants within a SAFE 15 minute walk. I used to go to the Rock Bottom restaurant for some great fresh microbrews.

Just stayed at the Hotel Monaco in Alexandria, VA. Beautiful hotel and an easy drive to George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate.
