Default All Of The Above...And More

While I will never complain about the increased traffic and crowds during "the season"...in the summer walking into any restaurant any time, or not experiencing heavy traffic and waits at the circles, playing golf on short notice and on just about any day (with much cheaper greens fees on the championship courses), enjoying many physical activities like yoga without having to arrive 45 minutes early, and on and on. Those are all things to do here in the summer.

There's very little not to like about The Villages in the summertime. The heat and humidity you say? I can play golf or pickle ball or take a long walk in the morning in the summer here, or go swimming anytime during the day. Could I do that in Chicago in January?

I agree! Love the summer in TV. Can do everything you do in the winter without the long waits. I do like the winters too because friends return for a few months. TV is wonderful anytime if year!

Default Summertime in TV

What do we do in the summertime ........... We do exactly what we do in the winter only without the crowds. Plus we travel north to visit family and friends. We also take vacations in the summer. It is a very laid back way of life here in the summer and we really enjoy it. I think the heat bothers women more than the men, but everywhere is air conditioned and comfortable. Where we came from the black flies and mosquitoes made living outside miserable, we have none of that here so we live outside a lot more than we did up north.

When we first moved here I thought I was going to die in the heat, now I hate to go back to the cold or wet weather.

I do the same as I do in winter except maybe earlier in the day before it gets too hot. And I also enjoy the lighter traffic and shorter waits at restaurants. In the fall, I love the anticipation of my neighbors and friends returning.

Summer is my favorite time in The Villages! We love summer here. We have winter to go on cruises. Don't go out here as much in the winter due to crowds.

LynnDeb,
You may already know this, but just in case.... we have LOTS and LOTS of groups, clubs, classes, lectures, special events and volunteer opportunities an addition to the golf and numerous other sports activities that you can participate in as a resident! Day OR evening! Every day!

Many are free, or have a minimal cost to attend. Attendance is at your discretion, so often you can participate regularly, or just on occasion.

We really don't have a 'clubhouse' per say. We have numerous recreational centers with different things going on continually, both passive and active, and any resident can attend anything going on anywhere.
Our newspaper, The Daily Sun, has a Thursday pull-out which updates all our Recreational News. New, interesting things start up all the time, from art to card games to dance, kazoo bands to clown school, civil discourse to gourmet cooking..... and a bazillion more. We have support groups for lots of special needs and as I said, loads of volunteer opportunities.

Transportation is necessary (car or golf car) to get to everything however, but the ride to and fro is entertainment in itself, for our 'campus' is beautiful.

This place is never boring. Or lonely. And here's a right back at ya!

set aside your notion of "it's too hot" in FL in the summer time. It is no hotter than most places between here and the great lakes in the summer time.

Also retirement is not seasonal....here anyway.

The real beauty is there is so much to do and one can do it year around.

January is the coldest month and that is when we usually "head South" by taking cruises to the tropics.

You learn to really like the sun in the summertime. Some may have to go it at a different pace, but life in TV is not seasonal.

This is so true............... our family is in NH, we went back for a graduation in the early part of last year and it was 103 for three or four days - that is 103 with NO AIR CONDITIONING. On top of the heat last summer, they had a drought which is very unusual for NH.

What I think you will find is that our heat lasts for a long time before you get a break. Whereas in the north the heat gets cleared out by a thunder storm and you get a cooler period for a time.

We do the same things all summer maybe a little more swimming. Most of the inside activities are a real pleasure in the sumer, way less people. That's when I try out new activities, etc...We LOVE it here in the summer !

I've only been here a year, so I still avoid doing strenuous activities outside during summer afternoons. Otherwise my activities are about the same. But more so because there is more daylight.
I did not move to The Villages because it was in Florida, I moved to Florida because that's where The Villages is.
