Default FYI Roof Leak

I have a house in Belvedere, (built in 2004) the roof developed a small leak. I called SCOTT SMITH Roofing and they sent a worker to look at the roof. He said that the "Ridge Vents" are the problem. When installed they were put down with nails, and some of the nails have worked their way up, probably the wind over time. With the extreme rainy weather we have been having some rain made it's way in. He said they will remove the Ridge Vents and reinstall with screws. Total estimated cost $180.00. I am posting this so people will be aware of a possible problem and solution. I got Scott Smith's Roofing number (352-867-0044) from this forum so I thought I would reciprocate a good deed by posting this info.

.
I live on the south side of 466 and on my cul da sac there are two Gardenia's that have developed roof leaks at the raised block structure at the front entrance. My house was also built in 2004. We noticed a discolored spot on the ceiling of the office a few years ago and called the warranty department. They sent a roofer out who said he repaired it. A few weeks ago, we discovered "mold" near the floor behind a trunk. We called the warranty department again, and they sent out the same roofers who again replaced flashing and shingles. The entire room has built-ins, so we could not slide furniture out to look at the walls. We had someone come in and unscrew two floor to ceiling bookcases. The back of the cases were moldy and the whole wall was moldy. Called The Villages Warranty and were told they were not responsible for secondary damage. They had no record of our original call because the house was no longer under warranty. We could not remember the date. Now the insurance company tells us they can find no cause for the damage inside our house because the roof has been repaired. We are between a rock and a hard place.
