Default Need new mattress

Need a firm interspring mattress. Consumer Reports lists several online brands. They also recommend The Original Mattress Co as a good store.

Any comments about them? Also, how do I dispose of my old mattress?

Thanks

We always made sure the old mattress was hauled away as part of any deal. We recently used Mattress Firm for two recent purchases and they did a great job swapping mattresses and hauling the old one away. Sorry no experience with OMC.

If I were buying a mattress, I would buy a Tempur-Pedic and buy it online.

OP, you can call your waste hauler, and they will make a special pickup, in our area this has a $10 fee. You can also put it out on trash night, and it might just disappear.

When we purchased our house went to several mattress stores on 27/441 to see what they offered. We were astonished by how expensive they were.

Went to Sams and found a very good mattress, made by a national brand, at a fraction of the cost and bought it.

Very happy with our purchase and how much we saved.

Stu, were you able to lie on the mattress at Sam's, and did they deliver and/or haul away the old one?

We need a new one as well. We spent quite a lot on the current one at a local mattress store.. It can't be flipped and is pretty much done in almost 7 years. I'd rather pay less and get a new one every 5 years.

We did some furniture shopping at Hudson's in Ocala. We bought a sofa and two mattresses (a king for the MBR and a queen for one of the guest BRs).

We like a firm mattress and found a great one which was made for the Biltmore Hotel in NC. Only issue is it's extra depth and requires deep pocket sheets.

We've been thrilled with them so far...

I don't understand how a mattress store can add any value to your purchase, other than to allow you to test the mattress in the store. I would much prefer to buy it online, and avoid non-helpful sales people.

I just had to cancel my order for a Tempur-Pedic that I bought on line because the first 2 scheduled deliveries were pushed out the night before I was expecting to receive them . The 3rd schedule change came just last week and I couldn't wait any longer. I bought it on line after visiting the store on 44.

Did the store have it in stock, or did they just place another online order?

We bought from Original Matress Factory some years back and it was just OK. I'd not go there again.

If you know what you want, Costco is the place to buy a mattress even if you have to
get their membership.
I know a family where they ordered a new mattress delivered to their front door free shipping, and took
their old mattress.
Three months later, their grandson had a accident.
They called Costco got a new mattress delivered in two day, and no questions asked why.

We just bought the Estate Charles Rogers mattress mentioned in Consumers. I’ve known about the company for years. It’s firm and comfortable and I liked the materials used. The Estate mattress is made in Fla. I did not get White Glove delivery. It was an extra $200. I was surprised that it came in a box. I hired James Dose Dose to help set up and move the old mattress to the guest room. I also researched the Costco route but in the end went a different direction.
