Default Need recommendation re new electrical irrigation wire.

After replacing two of my irrigation valves, my irrigation service told me that I should replace the wire that goes from my irrigation box in the garage to the valve box, which is on the other side of the house.

This is definitely above my capabilities. I'm asking here for some electricians/electrical companies that I could consider to do this.

Thanks.

It’s low voltage wire an electrician is not required it should be in your Sprinkler Service ability to handle the work…

For irrigation systems, including wiring, I would trust Joe Tucker. 352-430-5615.

This is low voltage wiring, you should be able to hire a handy man for the installation. The biggest concern is to get the correct wire rated for the outside conditions.

Actually, the irrigation service should be able to do that; while adding a zone (due to landscape changes) ACI (352-648-2783) ran several lines from the irrigation box in the garage to the valve box. They did a great job on our irrigation overhaul, we will definitely use them again if we have any further issues that are more than my husband wants to tackle (he is great with replacing sprinkler heads, running small lines off for potted plants, etc). They were prompt, quick workers, cleaned up after themselves, explained everything with no smoke & mirrors, and our irrigation is worlds better now.

Default Irrigation wiring

What would have damaged the wiring? Was the system working before this expert showed up? Check this list of recommended irrigation servicemen before you contract.

I would seriously question the need to replace that cable. What reason was given for a need to replace it. Two solenoids failing at the same time, once again I would question it. If the system is so old that two solenoids fail then it would be logical to replace all the solenoids.

I don't see the need to replace the wire if everything is working well. This may be their way to up charge you for unnecessary work. Unless you have a conduit coming out of your irrigation controller I would watch them do the work because if there isn't one then the would have to dig a ditch around your house to bury the wire or go up into the space above your garage and house and then run the wire down the outside of your house to get to the valves. I would check with another irrigation specialist.

It occurred to me this is LOW VOLTAGE wiring, and therefore you could use the plastic surface wiring system to run the wiring INSIDE the garage if this becomes necessary.
Recently I have been looking at the valve box at my house 10+ years old, and the wiring is in very good shape, so unless you have an animal chewing on the wires or it is much older, I do not understand the need to replace this. I agree with some of the above comments to try a different irrigation company.
