Exclamation New Sinkhole On Allamanda?

Playing golf today we saw that the lake between holes 6 & 7 on Cane Garden's Allamanda 9, is almost completely dry.

It also looks like there is a large and long crack in the middle that rocks have been put into at some point in the past (they didn't look new, because of no equipment tracks around).

When we teed off on the par three 7th, we looked back and saw three people who had come out of the houses facing the lake and they were down at where the water's edge used to be.

I'm sure someone is not sleeping well right now.

That little stretch of holes between #6 thru #7 around those two connected ponds and the little wooden bridge is an area I have always seen at least one gator. The best time I saw a total of 5 gators between holes #4 thru #8.

The Cane Garden sink hole that was big news a couple of years ago was on Jacaranda to the left side of #6 as you head up towards St. Charles. Around the same time they had problems with #6 green and you played to a temporary green making that hole driveable. The sink hole houses was two homes and they had yellow tape all around the lots so you couldn't miss them.

I too have seen many gators in this area and look forward to watching for them.

Right now, there were just a couple of birds hanging out in one of the very small pools left and I'm guessing were just gorging on the only fish left in the pond.

Most of the times when a pond on one of the golf courses loses water it is not a sinkhole, but a break in the liner allowing the water to escape into the ground.

That is entirely possible and a good point. The pile of fairly large rocks that I saw in what looks like a previous crack, is what made me think maybe it was a sinkhole.

And no, "the sky is not falling."

I just thought some people would be interested and that those who weren't, wouldn't bother to comment.

Just drove by on St. Charles. There's hardly any water left in that pond by #6. Anyone have an update on what happened?

There was one at Pimlico awhile back. Repaired quickly.

No biggie. IMHO

Pimlico update...just drove by there, pond between #6 & #7/8 is dry again. Visible from the road. Several construction type trucks parked there.
