Default Sirens and helicopter

Sitting on my lanai and heard sirens about half an hour ago. A helicopter arrived, circled, and landed. Something has happened near St. Charles and Tamarind Grove or St. James or perhaps on Buena Vista near 466A. Anyone know more?

Default Was also wondering

Looks like the helicopter landed right by Southern Star/Tamarind and St. Charles. Traffic seems to be as normal on St. Charles though.

The helicopter woke me up right at 7am as he came very low over Southern Star Villas. The Friday car/cart accident at Southern Star and St. Charles was in the newspaper this morning, and now it looks like another one at the same intersection. Maybe, now they'll change their mind and put a red light at that corner. That makes 5 accidents in the ten months since we've lived here, and one was fatal, don't know about today's yet.

Personally, I'd like to see 4-way stops at St. Charles and Pennecamp/Buttonwood/Tamarind Grove. All three are dangerous intersections with Tamarind Grove being the worst. I think we'd have a better chance of 4-way stops than a traffic light. Maybe we could use the argument that the ticket revenue from runners and jumpers would more than offset the cost of the light or stop sign.

Article in todays, 5/22, Daily Sun reported the accident on Friday at the intersection St. Charles Place and Southern Star Way resulted in a car running a stop sign and hitting a golf cart.
Even with stop signs....idiots will still cause accidents.

I saw the incident from my lanai.

The supervisor's SUV was parked on Southern Star Drive for some time before the ambulance and fire truck arrived via Tamarind Grove.

There was no accident at the intersection and it appeared this was a medical emergency that required an airlift. It's possible there was and accident inside Tamarind Grove.

Default Sirens and helicopter

The incident referred to above was a medical emergency, but did not involve a traffic accident. A patient was taken to a hospital by helicopter. I guess the golf course adjacent to the intersection was the safest place for the med-evac copter to land.
By the way, I agree that this particular intersection is very dangerous.
