Default Village of Chatham

We are considering buying a patio villa in the Village of Chatham. Do any of you live in this village and, if so, do you like it?

Thanks for your input!

Love Village of Chatham. Quiet, less traffic, and lovely neighbors.

Ditto! I honestly cannot think of anything negative about Chatham. We absolutely love it here. Chatham is the icing on the cake that is The Villages!

If you have specific questions feel free to PM me.

Chatham is a nice area.

The drawback would be that it is at one end of The Villages, which is now about 15 miles long and which has a 35-mile-per-hour speed limit for cars and a 20-mile-per-hour speed limit for golf carts. In other words, it will take you a while to get to and from activities at the other end of The Villages, or even in the middle.

With a more-central location, a couple can get by nicely with a car and a golf cart. At either end, you may find that you want two cars--unless you like really long rides in a golf cart, which some people do.

In fairness and kindness and I hate to bring it up. Someone a long time ago mentioned train noise? That would be the original owner of this forum.

I can't hear well anymore but some folks are annoyed by the sound of pickleballs.

We think that the area of Chatham is beautiful and beautifully maintained with nice areas around the homes. I love the area of Chatham.

Easy access, by car, to Rt 301 and Rt 27/441 easily solves travel time problems and you avoid lots of traffic by using Rt 301. ..and besides, what's the hurry?! Our area of The Villages is a little bit of heaven.

Thank you so much for your kind advice and comments on this village. I cannot tell you how long we have waited for this to happen!!! And if there is a little train noise, I will love it because we have always lived within a mile of trains in Ohio. I actually lay in bed at night waiting for them to sound their whistles!

Oh my gosh, this is actually going to happen for us!! I am sooooo happy!!!

Hope we can meet up one day soon! Merry Christmas!!

I think Chatham is one of the prettiest places in all of TV. The landscaping is mature and well maintained and it is obvious there is a lot of pride in ownership in the people that live there.

The other cool thing about Chatham is it is named after Chatham, Michigan which is in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan(DA UP EH) about 30 miles from my out of TV home Marquette, Michiigan.

Yes, we love the Village of Chatham especially between the hours of 11 pm and 4 am when the freight train comes whistling by at every intersection and at times only 15 minutes apart...if you love the sound of a train whistle you will love Chatham

I suggest you park you car in front of the house you are interested in (or at least nearby) late at night (when you would be normally be sleeping), roll down your windows and decide for yourself if the frequency and loudness of the trains rolling through is too loud. TV maps don't show the railroad tracks but if you google map the address you will be able to see how close the house is to them

AND try to think how you would explain what you were doing in a neighborhood not your own to The Village Watch or the sheriff when someone thinks a car parked outside in the middle of the night looks out of place with people in it and the windows down. It's a good idea, but it's a bad idea.

Googling the address is a better idea.

Chatham is beautiful and very well kept by it's proud homeowners. Near all the things you will need. But this thread is a month old and Sookey has probably already decided to be a Chathamer. Wise decision.
