Default New bowling alley???

In the article about the new Bob Evans (on the on line news), someone stated that there was a rumor of a new bowling alley going in south of 466a.

I have searched the Sumter County site, and found nothing regarding a new bowling alley, so if anyone has something to substantiate this rumor, I would like to hear it. We enjoy bowling and an alley located south of 466a would be great.

There was a sign announcing a new bowling alley on SR 44, almost opposite the Brownwood entrance, but that was 2+ years ago. The sign is now gone, there is a new small strip mall just north of that site.

We are bowlers. During the busy season it is almost impossible to bowl during the day unless you are on a league. It would be wonderful, in my opinion, if one was built south of 466A. If you take the shuttle tour in TV, they tell you that BOWLING is the #1 sport here (I know, hard to believe!).

I think you should get your mind out of the gutter.

A good location would be in the property that Burkes BBQ owns. The restaurant doesn't look very successful, (closed at 5pm). Plenty of land. With the additional building on 466A, more bowlers. Add a driving range. Build it they will come!!

I doubt that a bowling alley would be built in that section of TV, as AMF in Leesburg, is only a couple of miles away. JMHO

Just as OP said, only a "rumor".

Burke's BBQ closes at 5pm due to the construction issues with the widening of 466A. Supposedly they plan to return to their normal hours once the road work is done.

Are there open bowling times at night during the week this time of year or do you need to be in league to bowl (not that we're any good at it anyway)?

The owner of the 2 bowling alleys told me they decided not to open one down south as it would pull 30% of the business from the 2 they currently own.
Both alleys are open at night and during this time of year, it's fairly easy to get lanes (more so at Fiesta than Spanish Springs).
