Default new construction - buyer picks decor?

I have noticed several new homes that are being built with the kitchen, baths and flooring not finished. I have heard that the Villages is allowing the buyer to pick out cabinets, granite, flooring etc. (makes sense to me). If this is true how do they market these homes? Do you pay one price and then have a budget or do you pay a lower price and then get a final price after all finishes are selected? Just curious.

I would think it would be the house is $x plus whatever you decide for the finishing off and we will give you a price list for each of the options. Not much different than when you picked out a lot, a model and the options in the past. You do not "buy" until you make all the selections and the final price is determined.

Perhaps the best way to get the correct answer is to ask a sales agent.

This is very interesting. How do you find these homes on The Villages search site?

Maybe the houses just aren't finished......I haven't seen any that have been put on the market that were not outfitted with kitchen's, baths etc. Rather than do it a house at a time, they might just wait until the neighborhood is complete then the sub can come in and do multiple homes at a time. I agree, check with the sales folks.

Have not heard of this since they stopped allowing purchaser options. Are you sure?

I am not sure I just heard a few people mention it, but there a few homes in Hillsborough that have sold signs in the windows and they have empty kitchens.

If this is true I think it's a wonderful idea. When we were looking to buy we turned down a lot of houses because we didn't like the color of the kitchen cabinets or the floor tiles. Were among the last to be able to choose "build your own", so we ended up with exactly what we wanted, this seems to be a god option for new buyers.
