Although We plan to learn I am not now a golfer and have no interest in tennis.
Do you still find enough clubs and activities to while away your day and have enjoyment in your retirement? My big enjoyment is fishing but, not every day! Same for my wife she loves scrabble but, needs to be more active than that! We had visited for several days and it appeared to me that there would not be any problem filling up our schedule's Larry

Golf or no golf, there still aren't enough hours in the day to do all the activities available. Some days it seems you have to make "down" time to just relax and do nothing.

What I want to know is if you can find non-serious golfers to play with. I am a pathetic golfer - really - but I like the concept a lot. As long as I have sense enough to follow golf etiquette, are there people who play the exec courses who would not plot to bludgeon me with their drivers by the third hole? - or would it just be like high school all over again when even my very best friend would not pick me for her team?
Line dancing looks like fun, but I would never be able to do that. We took our grandchildren to Disney many years ago and Goofy tried to help me line dance at some kind of jamboree thing. It was awful. I smashed the video. At least I did not smash Goofy. I hear they have book clubs in TV. Maybe there is a book club that walks while talking about books. If not, maybe we could start one. And then we could go out to lunch. I am always happy to read about other uncoordinated people who live in TV. I wasn't sure we were allowed to live there. Everyone always looks so athletic in the ads they run.

Hey, my first post........
diskman, as red and fumar said, there REALLY are not enough hours in the day for all the activites you have access to. boomer, just make a tee time near the end of the day (after 4:00 pm). That seems to be a big time for newer golfers on the exec courses. You will be teamed up with others. When we first arrived a year and a half ago my wife was deathly afraid of golfing with strangers as she felt she was so bad. But the people you meet are one of the great things about the villages. Everyone is very friendly and usually the first thing they say when you meet them on the first hole is " gosh we are new to golf, I hope you dont mind if we are terrible". The only thing you want to make sure you do is pick up your ball after your 6th shot. This just keeps the game moving and you dont slow up the game too much for your party or those behind you. |

Hello one and all,
I have been reading all your messages for a week and I now want to say thanks for all the great information. Our house has been on the market for a while, lowered the price, etc, just hoping for a sale so that we can move to The Villiages. I love to golf, but hubby could care less--hoping to meet some lady golfers. Thanks to this post I will work my way back into the game by playing after 4pm. |

One thing that in my mind that makes The Villages unique is the variety of activities that you can participate in. One of those is the Lifelong Learning College. It just blow my mind looking at the course catalog. http://www.thevillageslifelongcollege.com/

I'm a newbie and have been in TV for four months. I don't golf or play pickleball or tennis, or even cards. :dontknow: I am too unco-ordinated to even line dance.
You will have NO PROBLEM filling your days with fun activities. I guarantee it. You will have a problem, however, in doing everything on your calendar! Loving it in TV BF

Diskman,
I can tell you in all honesty I have only been here three weeks and I think I need a vacation just for some R&R. I am ready to colapse from all the activities and clubs I have been involved in. Truthfully, before I came to TV I worried a little about possibly being bored, nothing could be farther from the truth, the great people here wont let you get bored for a minute. Dont mean to scare you tho, how much you get involved in is entirely up to you! Have fun! 040

We are also not golfers nor tennis players; my wife is convinced that if we were to try golf, we'd be so bad that they would pay us our amenity fee back if we were to promise NOT to return to the golf courses.... We have been here only a short time and I was certain I'd find time for flugelhorn lessons but simply cannot squeeze them into my days. '-) Seriously, there is no end to what's available in terms of social and recreational interests other than golf and tennis; this is a major part of what makes TV what it is. Let the good times roll!
