I nvr go south of 466a dangerous area no thx.

I just wonder why they chose the shorter part for large dogs and the longer part for small dogs. You would think that the large dogs could run better in the long park rather the a square box.
But glad it is going soon.

Have you seen the new dog park ? Is one smaller then the other ?

Yep saw it the other day. The one for large dogs is square while the one for small dogs is more rectangular. But the are both nice size with lots of benches, but it will be a while before the shade trees grow around the perimeter.

Will check it out in a few weeks. Curious if both are the same square ft. I guess I'll be counting the fence sections...

We will be moving to The Villages in November and are very excited about the dog parks. We have two large 2 year old Golden Retrievers who are accustomed to a 22 acre, naturally landscaped park so I was worried that they would have to be on a leash all the time... this new one looks great!

Has anyone tried the park where you pay outside of the Villages?

Doggie Doo Run Run is great. We have been going there since January 2007. It is up CR101 near the radio tower and kitty corner to the intersection of CR101 and CR104. This is north of Southern Trace Shopping Center on the right when travelling north.

It is $25 a month or $3 a day. $30 a month for two. $5 a day for two.

Thank you for the info... hopefully we will meet you there soon!

"Dangerous"? How so?

jet10s 08-10-2015 07:42 PM

ok I maybe in the minority -- but I do not like dogs and really resent the way all the dog owners in the villages just believe that everyone loves their dog as much as they do -- tired of sharing facilities and especially the town squares and restaurant patios with four-legged creatures and I would especially not want my district money to go for building any more dog parks

Obviously trolling.

We have way more small dogs.

Too bad. Off topic, and nobody really cares. District money is used for the benefit of all, not just you.

That's probably true. They need less square footage for exercise, though. (Except maybe those lightning fast Jack Russells!)

It will be great for all sizes.

With a join date of 2011, by now you must have read all the reasons why what you say doesn't make a lot of sense.

We are new to The Villages and arriving in late October/early November from Canada. Our two young Golden Retrievers will be very grateful to have dog parks to visit as they have grown up in one here... I'm assuming the rules are similar and am looking forward to meeting wonderful people and their pups!

Don't forget the "Loonies and Toonies Club" for Canadians. Meetings start in November.

The Villages is a dog-friendly community.
Hopefully all people who move to The Villages will be aware that dogs are allowed in the Town Squares and some restaurant patios. Go Square One Burgers! :doggie:
