Default THAT NEW LAND PURCHASE UPDATE (Big Yellow Church)

Was at the "Where does your money go" talk last night at Savannah Center. It lasted about two hours, and was very informative.
During the presentation, the new land purchase of 20 acres and the old church building was discussed. They are looking to make this a very special recreation area. With the strong possibility of adding another Putt & Play like they have in the new Fenney location. The new pool will be much different then what most of the other recreation centers currently have. They figure it will take about 20 months before everything is in place.
The current building at this site use to be the former church and is in excellent condition. It will be turned into a recreation center. They said the building will probably only need minimal changes. The outside area is what they want to really concentrate on.

I really like this answer. But to answer your question, it is on HWY 42 at the north end of The Villages, between Buena Vista and US 301.

If this is the Church near Chatham Acres then this is an unbelievable plus for the people in the extreme existing northern end of The Villages. Must have found some additional space to build more homes up that way. The building is a whopper.

This is the old church that sits behind the current and much larger 1st Baptist Church on 42. It was purchased for 2 million and is golf cart accessible from SE 79th Clearview Ave in Calumet Grove.

They are building small mini farm houses next to this planned upgrade. They are between 5 to 7 acres lots. It will be called Chatham Acres and they already have a sign up there. This will be great when it's finished!

Lots are 2 mill before you start building anything!

If one follows this forum, you will recall there has been numerous threads about the new building and lack of recreational facilities on the north end of The Villages. I think this new rec center will address some of these issues and will be a great addition for all in this area.
