Default Learning Line Dancing

Yeah. I'd like to learn to line dance. Sue me!!

I've gone to some classes and enjoyed them. Will probably go back. But if I really wanted to pretty seriously learn line dancing pretty quickly, what is the best way? How did those folks who seem to know every line dance in the world learn?

Private lessons? (I probably won't go that route.)

Just weekly group lessons? (Seems unlikely for fast-track at all.)

DVD's, on-line classes or something similar?

Something else I never even knew existed?

Can anybody shed some light? Thanks.

Search YouTube for line dance lessons. You will be amazed.

Several rec centers offer line dancing. They are on different days so you could spend several days a week going to classes. They go from basic beginner to advanced. Check the rec news.

OP, from what I have observed the last several years, you go to the Squares and follow the Leader and learn all the so called "moves" that way. I have to admit that nine years ago I thought line dancing would last a few years and "die out" but it seems to continue on and on in TV.

There are classes at the Lifelong Learning College for smaller groups than in the red centers. You learn more dances, faster in a smaller group.

I like the basic class at Allamanda. The instructor, Lisa, keeps it fun and light. No pressure.

I've found most of the Rec Center classes assume you have some line dancing experience, not two left feet.
I think the Lifelong Learning College offers "Line Dancing for Dummies".
(Not that you're dumb, Polar Bear, but sometimes a very basic class is a better place to start).

Heheh. Thanks, Barefoot. But I have taken enough group classes to be...oh...probably...advanced beginner. Or I think they use the term Beginner Plus. I'm just looking to accelerate the pace a little.

Then the Rec Center classes will be perfect for you! They sent me home with a "fail" grade. I can do the New York Shuffle, and nothing else at all.

Just a quick bump. I appreciate the replies so far. All very helpful.

Still kinda looking for that accelerated route though. Is there a website, a tutorial, videos, etc. something/anything that I could possibly use when I'm home, so I could use it any time I feel like it and not just at occasional, scheduled classes? Like I said, just a bump to see anybody has any other ideas.

Thanks.

Just go out to the square and follow along. I learned a number of dances that way.
