$200 a month for a Camry, but how much $$$ do you have to put down to get $200 a month?

As I said earlier, we use Consumer Reports Car Buying Service. Also, we never discuss trade in until we get a confirmation on the price. Mixing in the trade in will just confound things.

Watch the ads on TV, they always say what the required downpayment is. Or call or visit the dealership and ask.

What kind of warrantee did they give you?

If you buy a car from them and you do not like it, you have a 30 day 1500 mile trial period or you can return it. No questions asked. I just did that on a 2019 Hybrid Camry. You will love dealing with them. NO COMMISSION SALESMEN - everyone on salary.
Great car u got! I was a mechanic on cars trucks and B52’s
Fleet MGR 4 33yrs after above I know about vehicle cost
I owned a 2009 Camry Hybrid to drive all over FL and seGA.
130K miles I put on it. 1 12 volt battery after 8 years 1 set of tires 1 set of brake pads. I replaced spark plugs at 100k they still looked good.
I averaged 36 mpg in town 41 on freeway often stuck in traffic on I 95 or I 4.
Changed oil every 5k
in 2018 I moved to TV some one else in TV is still driving it.
It’s the cheapest operating cost of any vehicle I have owned, even the last 450 vehicles I managed the last 2 years I worked in FL or the 1000’s I have managed the cost and repairs of in my career. I had 42 mechanics working for me.
If you want a regular car and you r not polluting the planet it’s the best per my experience. It rides great to boot.
Used ones are a bargain and a better vehicle than the plain 4 or 6 traditional gas engine.
IMHO
I know a thing or 2 as I have done a 1002 or more on vehicles.
Also you can by any new vehicle for 2 to 5k less than MSRP
I did it last August Honda RTLE 43k msrp for 37k - 18k for 16 Subaru

I have had both happen to me more than once.
My former brother-in-law was a car salesman for many years. It's true. Sure, maybe there is an exception here or there for a car that has been on the lot for way to long and their interest charges are accruing but generally speaking it's true. When you offer a price and they say "sure" and give you a big (before covid) wet kiss then ask you if it was as good for you as it was for them you know it's true ... and it usually is. There is NO WAY you will ever know what a dealer has into a vehicle. You can read all the lists and articles and books ..... and check for all the promos and holdbacks and whatever else but you will never know.

Hey, just to clarify. "Paid too much" didn't mean you didn't get a decent deal. Some people just don't care what they pay as long as the dealer says "it's below cost" but a "good deal" never means you got the best deal. The #1 dealer favorite is "No haggle pricing."

That's nothing special (sales tax). When you buy any car with a trade-in or in your case an exchange you NEVER pay sales tax on entire value. The trade in value is deducted from the next vehicle and you only pay sales tax on the difference IF IT COST MORE. It the replacement is the same as the original value, 0 tax, if it's less you get a refund if it's more you only pay the on the difference. Just like exchanging a pair of pants from Macy's, you're refunded the tax you paid and apply it to the next pair of pants.

That something you have to consider when you buy a new (or used) car and sell yours privately. You lose that sales tax advantage unless of course you get that much more for your private sale to cover the tax delta. If your private sale is for example $15,000 you are going to pay around $1050 more on tax alone for the new car depending of course on what the dealer would give you for yours. SOMETIMES a private sale isn't worth the hassle when you take sales tax (and aggravation) into consideration.

Correct - I've been to this movie. What a joke to advertise a lease payment per month and have the down payment in the fine print. Fact if you but down around $13000 - $14000 you can lease a Camry for $0 per month for 36 months. Dealer A is advertising $229 per month and dealer B advertising $129 per month for 36 month lease. These are real TV ads in our area right now. What's wrong with this picture ?

When I buy a Ford using the "A" plan it's $200 over dealer cost.
A couple weeks after the sale Ford sends the break down, showing their cost.

Who buys a car with emails. I wouldn't even answer anyone who emailed me for a price if I was a dealer. Go in person. I just bought a used car for my granddaughter at Phillips Toyota and was very happy with the price and salesman, Ashley Lake. Up front, no hard sell.

A piece of advice and in my humble opinion.
NOW is NOT the time to purchase a new / used vehicle. There is a significant
shortage of retail cars available to the retail customer.
Fix the car you have now and wait until new vehicle inventory increases which
may be a year from now. You wont get a great deal from any dealer now on
any vehicle. Sellers market.

Welcome to the computer age.

Everyone I asked to quote did quote me and think I did very well purchasing car today with a price just over 5500 under MSRP.

If Toyota dealers were close to each other would have visited dealers but decided it was not practical.

BTW took multiple emails before Phillips gave me an out the door price and they were several thousand higher than what I paid.

I think you did very well if $5500 under msrp was w/o anything but tax and title. What dealer gave you that deal.
