Default Refrigator/Freezer recall

I just saw this news release:

Refrigerators are supposed to freeze and chill — and not cause physical injury. That’s why Electrolux on Thursday recalled about 367,000 refrigerators sold under the Electrolux and Frigidaire brands.

The exact problem, as stated in the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice: “The ice level detector arm in the ice maker can break into pieces and fall into the ice bucket, posing a choking hazard.”

Electrolux is offering a replacement for the ice level detector. Consumers should empty the ice bucket and get in touch with Electrolux to schedule a free replacement of the ice level detector.

You can contact Electrolux at 833-840-5926, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Eastern time, or by email at IceMakerRecall@electrolux.com.

We have an Amana fridge and the plastic piece on the ice maker arm fell off in the ice and was broken by the action of the coil that feeds ice to the dispenser. We noticed pieces of white plastic in our drinks and only then noticed the plastic ice level detector was gone. I dumped the ice but never replaced the piece and everything still works fine. Maybe a little more ice in there but all is good. At least we didn’t ingest any of that plastic ( that we know of) !
