Default New Year's Eve

My wife and I have picked out a lot and hope to move to The Villages in the summer of 2012. We will be visiting this December 30 and 31 and are wondering if the bands in the squares play until midnight on New Years Eve. Thanks.

I don't think they do, but it would be very cold out there. I know hearty northerners can stand it but after you been down here awhile, you will probably want to celebrate in nice warm indoors.

Sounds like a solid plan. Are there any inside celebrations? The Lovely Darlene and I will also be bringing the New Year in the Villages and might be able to stay awake until midnight !!! Any suggestions for us???

when we first moved here in 2003 they used to do New Years at the squares and play music, dance, drink, etc through midnight.
Then TV lawyers started harping about liability!?!? And now they do play to the usual 9 PM.

It was never too cold.
It was always a lot of fun.
There was never any observation of any unruliness of any kind....but the newer management regime's need for just in case protection put the kybosh on a very popular event.

Now we all have a good time at house parties, country club parties and any other number of celebration venues....(others somehow do it with no worry about possible litigation).

There's no dropping crystal ball a la Times Square.

My street has had a couple of in-the-street parties, where neighboring streets were always welcome.

One year was fairly successful, but after we all watched the Times Square ball-drop on a neighbor's television, we quickly pulled up the tables, chairs, and other amenities and went to bed!

Another year, it began to rain at about 11:45pm. I think everyone was gone and snuggly in their homes by 11:59pm!

I know I was!

We have a committee that has a great New Years Eve party at Saddlebrook Rec Center. This is our 5th year. Costs is $30.00 each. 4 platters of finger food, champange at midnight, DJ Bob Fowler. Will have around 100 people. Good chance to meet new Village friends. We have a few spots available.

Last year we went to Katie Belle's to hear Rocky.
This year we won't be in TV or we would go again if it's happening.
