Exclamation The Villages Honor Flight needs you!

The Villages Honor Flight is part of a national non-profit organization who's sole purpose is to flight WWII vets to Washington DC to see the WWII Memorial. Time is of the essence because most of these vets are in their 80's and their ranks are rapidly diminishing. Each chapter raises funds to fly the vets on a chartered plane. The volunteers that accompany the vets pay their own way. We need all kinds of volunteers, support at fundraisers, fundraising ideas and, of course, money. You can get more info at www.villageshonorflight.org, or you can see us at Market Night on both squares. Thanks

Bump.

I'm not in TV, but my 91 year old uncle who served in the Pacific for almost 4 years during WWII took an Honor Flight from Iowa 2 years ago. Now he is confined to a wheelchair most of the time, so I'm glad he got to go on the Honor Flight when he did.

There are about 1 million WWII vets left in the USA. They are dying at a rate of 1200 to 1500 A DAY! That is why Honor Flight's sole purpose is to get as many WWII vets to their memorial in Washington D C as possible. It is a one day trip that also stops at the other war memorials and Arlington National Cemetary. They take any vet who is unable to get there themself. We are a charity who needs the funds to charter a plane, provide transportation on the ground and feed the men. It costs approximately $500.00 per person to get there,$ 80,000 to $ 90,000 per flight. Each escort/volunteer pays their own way so that all funds raised go towards the flight. ALL funds go towards the flight. We are all volunteers, no one gets paid and no funds have to be paid to any administrator. We take any donation. If every Villager would give $ 1.00 that would pay for the first flight. We could use a print shop to help with printing our materials and signage. We currently "borrow" our respective employers copiers to make black and white copies of pamphlets. We don't want to spend any funds for printing so that we can get as many vets to Washington as possible. Please help. For more info go to www.villageshonorflight.org. If your father, mother brother sister was a vet and is no longer with us please consider a memorial contribution. If thet are alive and would like to go please contact us. We currently have about 100 applications. Thank you. Jim Schafer.

Default The Villages Honor Flight.

Villages Honor Flight has a firm date of May 26th 2012 as our inaugural flight. Southwest Airlines has generously given us 25 round trip tickets to Washington DC and thanks to all of you we have raised the rest of the money needed for escorts to travel, ground transportation and meals for all. And we are not one and done. We are also looking to book another flight as early as June. We still need many volunteers and have a Villages Honor Flight club which meets at 1pm on the 2nd and 4th Monday each month at Saddlebrook rec center.

To continue our flights we need more donations as well. There are over 500 WWII veterans at the American Legion alone and our chapter not only supports The Villages but also parts of Sumter, Lake and southern Marion counties. We would like to get as many veterans to Washington as possible.

Thank you for your support,

What a wonderful organization. Count me in!

And how true....time is of the essence.

(Lexi, the "dawg" is the Navy Seabees Mascot. I think she will be giving a donation as well).

Thank you for making us aware of this.

The check is the mailbox. What a great cause! I wish I could volunteer as well.

But....you have it wrong.....it's THANK YOU! Thank you to all our vets and those who are are now serving our country. Thank you just doesn't seem like it's enough to show my appreciation....I am so very grateful.

Default Villages Honor Flight

I received the nicest personal thank you from Villages Honor Flight.

Lexi, the dawg, is the Seabees Mascot...so she likes me to donate to the Seabees. They have a wonderful monument back here in North Tonawanda. The dawg loves to walk in that area by the Niagara River.

However, after talking to some of my Seabee friends, they thought the Honor Flight is a priority because "time is of the essense". I would ask anyone who has a couple extra dollars, to give to this cause.

The Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization dedicated to transporting as many US military veterans as possible to see the Washington, DC area memorials of the respective war(s) in which they fought at not cost to the veterans. The current focus is taking vets of WW II to the National WWII Memorial...and any veteran with a terminal illness to see the memorial of the war in which they fought.

To all servicemen....past and present......THANK YOU FOR SERVING OUR COUNTRY.
