Doesn't matter. Here in Florida the governor is calling the legislature back to vote on banning mask mandates in schools. Will they extend that to businesses etc.????

I think maybe you are thinking of something else.

al-Jazeera English is pretty neutral, because they focus on global news rather than just one country or another. They do tend to be critical of the USA but their criticism is from the perspective of the world, not the introverted perspective of American journalism.

al-Jazeera American tends to a less critical perspective of America, because that's where they're stationed. Most of the stuff I read on al-Jazeera doesn't bring up any particular emotion against my country. It's mostly just facts of "this happened" and "this person has this education" and the usual who what where when and how. The "why" they leave to editorials, OR to statements from whoever they're talking about.

They were banned from China and censored by them for a piece they did on China's prison system, and Egypt jailed 3 of their journalists for reporting on the country's Coup d'etat in 2013.

The journalists were ultimately pardoned but their arrest and imprisonment was a world-wide story that brought people from around the globe to protest against Egypt for suppressing facts that al-Jazeera had reported on.

Pretty neutral! LOL

Reality seems to be missing from many peoples thoughts. Truly simple example, we drive on the right side of the road. The English drive on the left. Our rights? Hum, we should be able to drive on the side we choose.

I just got back from an extended vacation using multiple Airlines.

I was in many airports and many different planes.

Most people (I SAID MOST PEOPLE) were wearing their masks below the nose (like me in order to breath and prevent glasses from fogging up.)

Even the DHS guys were not wearing mask above the nose.

Kids were wearing their masks around their necks.

So it really doesn't matter what anyone says about wearing masks (for me) because MOST people are (in actuality) not wearing them.

Here in the Villages, some people do:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

And what I didn't mention is that my son was in the air when it happened, flying from Phoenix TO Boston. When the FAA order came through the pilot put that plane on the ground in Indianapolis from 37,000 feet in about 4 minutes!

Maybe if al-Jazeera America changed it's name to apple pie instead of that Arabic gibberish I'd be less critical.

I was working a temp job at Pratt-Whitney on 9/11. We had the TV news running in the background while we were configuring helicopter parts for the military. This was in North Haven, CT, around 1 hour away from NYC.

All of a sudden the guy sitting behind me in the office yelled something like "oh sh**!" or "OH MY GOD" or something equally attention-grabbing. We turned to watch the first tower burning, and the announcers proclaiming that it was a terrorist attack.

The guy who drew our attention to the TV then said something like "you know, this plant (our Pratt-Whitney building) would make a great target for them too.

I didn't even say a word. I fled from the building and went home. After I was able to breathe normally again I called the temp agency and told them what happened and that I wasn't going back to that job.

What happened was not the act of "those Arabs." It was the act of a very specific group of terrorists.

Not all brown-skinned people are terrorists. Not all hijab-wearing women are oppressed. Not all turban-wearing men are even Arabs, OR members of any terrorist movement. And not all Muslims are terrorists. In fact, most are not. The fringe are. Just like the fringe of white-skinned American people are white supremacists and neo-Nazis and "alt-right." They don't represent America.

All media has some bias. Some are more biased than others. al-Jazeera English is one of the lesser-baised news sources. They do have a spin. But it's not extreme. They stay fairly close to neutral, in general, with few exceptions (particularly their editorials but - that's what editorials are for).

.

I flew out of MCO last week to Newark and from Newark to MCO yesterday.

I saw maybe 2 people doing the chin mask routine, most people had them up.

I'm not a fan of masks, and I am vaxxed. I will wear where required.

Paper masks don't work against aerosols to any real degree unless it's a properly fitted N95. The predominant mode of infection of Sars-Cov2 is aerosols.
I have a beard, the only way for me would be a full face N95 respirator since I can't form a seal to the sides.

The real way to avoid getting this disease is the four Ds.

Density - Don't hang in tightly packed spaces with other people.
Duration - Don't stick around long
Dimensions - Find the biggest open space you can, be there.
Draft - If there are open doors or moving air, that's the best spot.

It's all about diluting the amount of Virus that may be lurking. Open space, high ceilings, lots of churn.

So if a vaccine could come with adverse side effects, she is likely to be "that person" who gets the side effects.

Since she's already immuno-compromised, additional adverse side effects could end her up in the hospital, having organ surgery, or dead. It's also possible that absolutely nothing bad would happen on top of her current medical issues. But for her, the risk is greater than the potential reward, so she's acting on the side of caution.

As for metal allergies - syringe needles are made of stainless steel, which contains small amounts of nickel. While most people with nickel allergies can tolerate it ON their skin (such as snaps of shirts and zippers of pants), it's possible to have a reaction when it is inserted under the skin. Not common. But possible. For anyone who IS allergic to nickel, it's something they have to consider and prepare for, whenever they might need an injection of anything.

Interesting, live and learn. Nickle is very common. Use of stainless steel is way up, cars, appliances, tableware, even coinage.

Nickle allergies THAT severe aren't common at all. Most people who have a nickle allergy can be in physical contact with stainless steel without any problem at all. It's just when it's in contact with an open wound, or placed under the skin, or ingested, or introduced to the body via piercings that they can experience unpleasant effects.

I only knew one person who had that allergy ever, a patient who was my shared hospital suite when I had my car accident. She had a broken hip and they put a bolt in there to keep it immobile, and had to monitor her 24/7 for reactions and keep some kind of anti-rejection meds in her IV drip to make sure she didn't swell up like a balloon.

Can't really argue with that and I (reluctantly) agree. But there are 2,996 dead people who would probably be even more reluctant.

Who will the media blame this time around??
They already got rid of the last guy.

Nah. They'll just play the "more should have been done sooner" card again.

I don't know where the NYT did their research but at all the Walmarts around here have signs telling people that vaccine is available for no cost. I'm pretty sure Publix has the same thing. I seriously doubt it is any different in any other city in the US.
