Pretty sure that I have influenced a bunch of smart people to stop buying Adidas

Since your grandchild is not your immediate family then by definition it won't (but you are smart enough to know that, right?).

I hope if a grandchild does identify as trans that he will not be met by this hostility since *that* will certainly affect your immediate family.

OK, so we agree about the desirability of a safety net for people in society that were NOT born with many of the tools needed to succeed in today's complicated world. My main point is that the acceptance of "trans" people or GENDER FLUID people has changed from (let us say) 1950 to the present - that is PROGRESS. And it makes sense that in the FUTURE there will likely be MORE acceptance. That is barring some cataclysmic event like a war causing social PROGRESS to be on hold.

Bobby Riggs, in his prime, was a very good tennis player. I believe he was ranked number 1 in the world at one point and won several grand slam events. He played, and lost to, Billie Jean King when he was in his mid 50s and she was in her prime. If he was a transgender woman in his prime he would have dominated women's tennis. He was a showman who had a big mouth.

Imagine Mr. Riggs was transgender. Anyone wanna guess whether that skinny little wuss of a man (even as a woman) would stand a chance against Billie Jean. She worked hard to become a true athlete. He worked hard at working his misogynist mouth off.

Athletes are athletes. If a transgender beat a woman in a particular sport, what was the time differential in the finish. If it was just milliseconds or even seconds, it seems to me that it is just a matter of training. And if the birth woman beat the transgender entrant, perhaps it is due to her very early training in the sport which may have been denied the transgender entrant?

It seems like this thread is making a mountain out of a molehill. I suspect Fox Opinion News has something to do with it. It would appear that so many on this thread are twisting their hankies into knots, crying how unfair....when one must wonder how unfair it really is...if at all!

You experts are so certain in your ignorance and intolerance. The genders are not as simple as you wish or your church may have taught you. It is very complex and the exceptions to your wrongheaded wisdom prove the fallacy of your beliefs.

Of course you would support forcing teachers not to teach the truth about gender identity because telling children the truth would threaten your so tightly held beliefs. There is every color of the rainbow in human expression and experience of sexuality and gender.

And any corporation that understands how the emerging picture of the complexity of gender must be boycotted. Cancel culture I believe is the term the thought police use on TV

Very well said. Thanks for your thoughtful fact based response and questions.

Which again has NOTHING to do with the topic at hand...

Will you accept the dictionary definition, or does it have to be the politically correct nonsense?
I can use it in a sentence. " This morning I woke with a hangover."
Do I get a participation trophy?

The use being questioned was not used in that context.

This was sad news. To compete and train your entire life in swimming only to be beat by a transgender that was ranted 465 when he was a man is just not fair. He should have competed against men or other transgenders only. Why should that young lady have to settle for 2nd place.
