“ Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot’
They took all the trees
Put 'em in a tree museum *
And they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to see 'em “ Joni

Great news indeed. It was really hard driving down the multi-modal at night with the people darting across the MM path to get to/from their carts. We park over in the golf cart-only area by the golf shop and there are always spaces there. Come on people.

There is no parking problem. We have been there many times and have always found a parking spot. Always.

Exactly!
Many people are just too lazy to walk even a little bit. We see it all the time at LSL. People will drive around for 10 minutes just trying to find a spot so they don't have to walk 2 blocks. Yes, some have health issues but most don't.

That's why we're one of the most obese countries in the world. Far to many people exercise way too little, and eat way too much. It's a nationwide problem.

I’m at Sawgrass all the time, NEVER could I not find a legal parking spot - I’m not buying the posts that say there is no parking available.

He does good work, no doubt, however. Just cut out the poor-mouthing and public desecration of businesses like Culvers, and show the progress.

The solution should have been to close off the sidewalk leading to Sawgrass. Carts will still be parked along the MMP as close as they can get to that sidewalk entrance. We'll see.

He provides a great service requiring his time and equipment. It is his business. If you don't like it, don't watch it. Most people appreciate the guy and the product which costs us (you) nothing.

I clearly stated that "He does good work, no doubt, however. Just cut out the poor-mouthing and public desecration of businesses like Culvers, and show the progress."

Do you think the people at Culvers appreciate the product?

Don does a really GOOD job with the ads. They are not too intrusive, many just appear on the bottom
I don’t need any of the items his advertiser sell, but if I were looking for say an irrigation person or a pool person, I would trust his advertisers over a google search.
He’s as close to a neighbor recommendation as there is.

Sponsors I would suggest (if they advertise with Don, they would be busier than anyone)
Painter
Kitchen remodel
Mobile Golf car repair/oil change
Lawn maintenance
Landscaper

I doubt Culver's watches a YouTube from The Villages. And yes you said his work is good, but you qualified that by complaining about him having advertisers that pay your freight so it won't cost you anything. I'll bet that you didn't work without compensation.

ithos 04-04-2023 10:00 AM

What was the complaint about Culvers?-

Out of curiosity, in which video did he bash Culver's? I don't watch his videos but I am interested in what he had to say.

The only thing Don has stated is that he doesn’t get it, and it’s not his favorite. No bashing, he just doesn’t go there. Obviously many people love it and that is great. We all have likes and dislikes and he is free to share his. Don spends a lot of time and research to keep us informed about this place. I am appreciative of the work he does and I don’t mind the ads in the videos so he can make a little bit of money to try and offset a portion of his costs.

I will say this, Captain Ds has far better fried fish. And I have had their Rueben and it was very bland. But the service and condiments are top notch. Nobody better in that regard.

Carts Drive on Grass every day?? Golf Courses have grass. No rails, no signs, if no parking is what they wanted, make it a bit more obvious. (Like PLANTS!)

bluecenturian 04-04-2023 12:30 PM

Here is a great solution. Rent the space to all those that feel there is not enough parking and they are too entitled to walk from the parking lot. My amnesties fees should not have to pay to replace the grass or Maintenace of this area because of some spoiled entitle minded selfish people. There has not been a time I have seen no parking spots. You know you can park all the way back by the rec center and walk. That’s a pretty big lot to say there is no spots. And I am a veteran with 2 hip replacements, in need of both knees to be replaced and screws in my ankle but I walk because I don’t feel entitled or that the world owes me something for my injuries.

VApeople 04-04-2023 01:29 PM

I don't have a dog in this fight since we do not own a golf cart and we do not go to Sawgrass, but I do have an opinion.

I think people drive crazy in golf carts. Since they now have to park with the cars in the parking lots, I think it will be more dangerous for the pedestrians walking from their cars to the entertainment. I'll be interested to see what happens.

Incidentally, the only time we park there is when we want to use the beautiful walking/biking trails along the lakes, but we park way in the back so golf cart traffic is not a problem for us.

Watching his videos is optional. Not to mention, he can talk about anything he chooses. They are not Public Service videos.

Really? You have to be told not to park on the grass next to the road when there is a parking lot for that purpose?

The developer owns the property, he can choose rules, anytime, anywhere. Their house their rules.

It wasn’t a parking area, but those who felt special parked on the grass, sit in their golf cart with a view of the back of the boxcar, drinking whatever they packed in their cooler. It wasn’t a handicap parking, those are in the paved lot. Have never been to Sawgrass, that parking was not available.

Some just feel too special to park in the designated areas. Guessing they are also the chosen few who park in the fire lane when they go shopping.

In some cities there are companies that put boots on cars illegally parked on private property, usually business parking lots. It can be pretty expensive to pay the boot company the fee to remove the boot. The best way to get someone to comply with laws/ordnances is usually through their wallet.
There have been a few threads on this forum from people who are asking about what kind of business to start up. Here is your opportunity!

There is still plenty of room for them to park on the grass among the trees and shrubs and I'm sure you will see that the next busy evening.

Yeah, it is something new.

On the rare occasions we go to Brownwood, most golf carts want to park along the square or one of the roads, like right in front of City Fire. We park in one of the parking lots where there are very few carts.

At Sawgrass, cars and carts will be parking in the same lots. The way some cart drivers whip around, there might be more pedestrian injuries.

Yeah, that will really help with carts backing out in front of oncoming carts, people gathered on the MMP talking (oblivious to oncoming carts) or people walking across the MMP (again oblivious to oncoming carts), won’t it? Think!

To each their own; the grass wasn’t for people that are handicapped to park on. Why can’t people understand that? Let them get somewhere early enough to get a designated marked handicapped parking spot. Why should they get special privileges TO PARK ON GRASS?

Finding a handicap spot open in Fla. is like looking for ice in the Sahara. We occasionally go to McGrady's. The entrance is far from the parking lot for those with limited walking ability. Parking on the grass made the trip much shorter. Some day I hope the hyenas get to know what that's like.

Parking on the sidewalk just outside of the door would make the walk even shorter. That is the logic being used above.

Actually that little strip of land (and the MMP) are owned by The VIllages CDD, not the developer
