No dog in this fight, either. Just wondering...could it be that prior to the "cleanup/improvements" the owner looked the other way, and now that it looks more official, they can no longer afford to do that and need to recognize liability issues? Did the cleaner-uppers shoot themselves in the foot?? Just a thought.

OAN, will golf cart insurance cover owners who have an accident while trespassing? I'd check with my insurance company before ignoring the signs. Insurance companies like to look for reasons to deny claims.

JMO...........I don't think Duke looked the other way. Keep in mind how big they are and I bet it didn't even show up on anyone's radar. But with the improvements, with the press coverage someone within Duke that cared, might have said.............Holy cow, we have a hiway going thru our property.

Good question on insurance.............some policies deny coverage during illegal acts.

This is such a fun thread.

Personally, I'd be willing to pay an extra annual fee to TV for a Golf Cart sticker to have access to that Walmart etc. and a maintained path. It's always about $, so a reasonable fee for TV residents and the other communities would probably make everybody happy and a little more money in the Morse family's coffers which is always important. You know the merchants love the business and those that use it wouldn't mind a small fee. Not so different than a toll or paying for parking.

Instead, we have to pretend it's about all these other issues when it's just profits. No different than paying a parking fee. For that matter, why not sell access to TV amenities for the surrounding communities as well? No different than joining a country club. Price it high enough so that you don't get riffraff and make money to boot. Keeps the monthly fee for TV residents lower too. Problems solved!

sorry, no!

Interesting observation. Could be some credence in this theory if both ends of the path were not posted. Do you know if the no trespass signs are at both the Walmart and Aldi's ends (i.e. a total of 4 signs)?

I did go thru the path today. The signs on both ends are far from the entrances (at least 150 feet on one end, at least 50 feet on other) and It's obvious to me and the others going thru that the six signs total are meant to keep people off the facilities operational areas. That one line newspaper did no research and got the purpose of the signs wrong and they were very wrong on the signs location. Thank you mods for deleting the looney posts from uninterested parties. 1st picture entrance to path from Aldi, no signs in site,

2nd picture just beyond same entrance, if you look way down , end of fence on right you can see a sign, but not even a hawk can read it until you get much closer.

Thank you Gracie, I forgot to describe pictures. Will post more pics with descriptions.

with the way people park around here I doubt a sign will keep anyone off the path

Picture coming from Walmart, signs are closer to this path entrance, about 50 feet. Notice mph sign in middle of no trespassing signs on either side of path.

The cart path from Paradise Drive to Walmart has been in use for over 15 years by Villages and Stonecrest residents until the developer reinstalled the cart gate that was removed by order of the Town of Lady Lake many years ago.

The cart paths in the roadways are public roads not MMP's.

As I mentioned previously, if they really didn't want anyone using this trail it would only take about 30 minutes with a backhoe to make it totally inaccessible.

Which leads me to believe, the signs were put there purely to try and cover themselves legally.

Let's hope no one defaces or removes the signs.
That will be the quickest way to get Duke to fence it again....

I believe it was last year that Duke installed a fence that blocked access. Believe it was taken down by them the same day.

Why the sign and not a new fence?

Apparently none of the posters on this Thread are current customers of Duke Energy. If you are, call them for an interpretation of the posted signs. Let us know what you find out.
