Default No Power to Lamp Posted ??

I have taken my front Lawn "Lamp Post" apart and painted it... It now looks great but now I can't get the light to turn on at Dusk.. initially I thought it was the sensor but no !... Not sure what breaker is for the post lamp but it looks like all the breakers are "ON"... I have tested the line feeding the post and there is no Power ?..
I have a Gardenia... moved in new in 2014..... it worked before I took it apart ?
Am I missing something ?
Thanks,
G.

Check your GFCI plugs in the garage. There is a decent chance that one has tripped and your lamp post is wired to that plug.

My garage has two GFCI outlets. One time several years ago, my lamp post lost power. The problem was a tripped GFCI; and it was the GFCI in the garage but farthest from the lamp post.

Reset all of your breakers until you find the right one. Also as above, check your GFI outlets.

Re: circuit breakers
Our previous home had older circuit breakers. When they switched off it was easy to see which breaker had tripped. The ones we have now, if they trip, the movement of the circuit breaker is far less dramatic.

Whoever wired our home, labeled all the circuit breakers. To all, if yours are not labeled or perhaps you can't read them, it is a good idea to do it before you have a problem.

Talk about,"the old days," our GFIs in our previous home had neon bulbs on them. If, they shut off it was obvious.

Many do not know how to reset a breaker. You need to shut it fully off and then fully on.

We have a gardenia (2013) also, you will find 3 GFCI outlets in the garage, our lamp post is connected to the one on the left side of the garage. Yours may be different as there are a few variations of the gardenia. Feel free to send me a PM if you would like to discuss further.

On most of the GFI breakers, you can reset them with your thumb.

On some of them, you have to push the button really hard, and farther in. Our electrician recommended I use a flat head screwdriver...

Works great!

Just as an FYI.. The new houses no longer use a traditional GFCI that you reset on the outlet. All the resets are now on the breakers themselves. No more hunting around to see what GFCI you tripped. It's easily found in the breaker box.

I know this doesn't pertain to the OP since his house was built in 2014. But for anyone moving into a new house it might be helpful.

If that were the issue the light would be on 24/7

Thanks, I for one see several outlets marked GFI and I had no idea how to reset them.

Safety first.

To do this you have to understand basic 120V troubleshooting so you don’t get shocked.

When you say no power did you check the actual wires in the socket? I suspect grounding problem or now broken wire in socket? IMO You need to isolate it. Wires coming into socket and socket center to socket threads ground. If you got power from wires then it socket problem/ associated wiring problem. If you have no power at wires, it’s wiring or breaker problem. I suspect socket or photo cell wiring ( wire make have become discounted?) problem?
