How bad are the people who answer classifieds on this site, especially people living here in The Villages?
Use Ebay, easier and better, when customer buys they pay immediately

I mostly agree in that this is a universal issue, not just in TV. Our son created a business in the hospitality industry—quirky in a positive way with a significant percentage of repeat guests. He worked 24/7, gave up his privacy to live on site, and had as a goal to sell and retire at age 40.

In the end he did so two years sooner. Why? He found the quality of guests had deteriorated so rapidly in the eight years he operated his creation (2000-2008, perhaps a reflection of the times)—lack of respect for other guests, for house rules, and for the property—that, as he put it, the fun had gone right out of it. So he sold and went on to his next adventure.

And while it’s true that some folks are dependable while others are not, I disagree that the results of this man’s experience trying to sell his clubs can be attributed to human nature‘; IMHO calling it this is making an excuse for plain bad behavior!

this is funny - we're slammed w/work here in atl so i put a post on craig's list for some basement wtrproofing mechanics who might want xtra $,,, the ONLY rqmnt what they supply name, an e-mail, & phone,,, out of 60some responses to the 1st gig post, 1 was able to follow directions
the 2nd post was more specific in that instructions were in CAPS - 35 responses, 2 were positive
based on this experience, i'd say pay the extra $ & post in caps ;-)

watch spelling, syntax, & sentence const on some forum posts - not everyone staid awak during english clasez

Rude people who don’t tell you they’ve now decided not to buy them. Probably same people who don’t RSVP to parties, weddings, etc. Sad....

I've sold and purchased several items on ToV classifieds. I've never had one no show or a bad experience. In fact, I've often met some of the nicest people in these exchanges. Maybe I've just been lucky. My items for sale were always very reasonably priced.

I have been selling my hubby’s toys for years. Be wary there are a lot of crooks out there saying they will give you a certified check etc. Check when people pay you it’s not fake, buy a pen. Advertise in a good classified site eBay, Facebook? The Villages, Nextdoor

I have a small Ebay business... problem is the competition, there's a million golf clubs to choose from there and you'll only get pennies on the dollar.. also way more folks will ship them back for a refund than will physically BRING them back for a face to face refund..

No shows seem to be a common problem around here. Even when we have posted stuff for free, people make an appointment and then don't show up.

They're waiting for you to drop the price.
