Yes, you’re right. Although the google map can make things a little bit easy, at least we can measure the distance from the homesite to roads, It would be better for us to go there and look at it. Thanks!

3-4 homes in from a noise source is not bad. There's noise most everywhere during the day from landscaping, lawn mowing/trimming, and the large unmuffled pickup truck those workers prefer to use. Things quiet most everywhere after sunset.

I would strongly suggest you not buy remotely. I have ridden my bike all over the new areas on Meggison both south and north of Warm Springs and many lots are very close to the turnpike. I am in DeSoto and we deal with the noise from the cement plant in the early morning. We are far enough away from the turnpike that we really don’t hear the noise except in the winter if the wind is from the east we can hear it a little bit. You may want to consider the new construction at Hammock at Fenney. The only issue I can see with Hammock is the distance to Water Lilly bridge.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions! I see almost all new homesites close to the turnpike and major roads. We have been to the villages a couple of times. Maybe it’s not a good time to buy a new house here at the moment.

Where are you seeing these homesites? The only ones I’ve seen in months are in Hammock of Fenney, nowhere near the turnpike.

And be sure to stay away from the sewage treatment plants that are going in.

OP, Suggest you know the area as not only noise and sewage treatment, but also stay away from the prison and quarry.
If you own a home now, your value should continue to go up commensurate with The Villages.

From google map you will see those construction areas, choose satellite option, and you can measure the distance from the homesites to turnpike and roads.

Thank you for reminding!

What is the problem with being near the prison?

If that's the case the turnpike authority may install a sound barrier. Or may not.

I would not buy a house 1/4 mile from the turnpike.
Also would not touch any house built near the power lines.

Why settle when so many houses are being built?

You should also consider resale down the road.

We are in Citrus Grove and cannot hear the Turnpike. Maybe I need hearing aids. We are ~0.45 miles from Turnpike.

Dear Villagers, we are evaluating the homesites at the intersection between Meggison Rd and Warm Springs Ave. The homesites are away from turnpike about 1/4 mile. There might be 3-4 houses between the homesites and Meggison and Warm Springs. In terms of our experience in Pittsburgh, the road noise is very loud in the same distance in the open space. Our another concern is this homesite also fits into the highway 0.3-mile high pollution band. Our agent said the road noise cannot be heard with surrounding wall. Would you please advice if you have some suggestions on these issues? TIA

Rent first. Then, thoroughly explore the area in which you think you wish to live.

Doubtful any of us will be around if/when they ever widen the turnpike in this area.:a040:
