I agree with Don(GWN). Perhaps you should just open a section/category on 'Politics'? Let those who feel the need to express their opinions, go there? Anyone not interested, can avoid it, as they'll know what they're getting into?

I wish the bullies would find other outlets like volunteering. It is one thing to get old but another to get nasty too. You could be old and gracious.No one wants to hear from a nasty old person.

Imagine someone all 'likkered up,' who becomes enraged and knowing a persons name and address (easy to get after the name)...decides to take their rage out on that person or their property.

I see the case for both sides and feel the right to a certain amount of anonymity allows one to state their feelings, experiences, opinions more openly without fear of possible reprisal or embarrassment. Think of the "we tip" programs that allow reporting to the police without fear of reprisal, or the dreaded "two ladies in the golf cart" reporting community violation. If someone complains about my garden gnome and I ask who reported me I am not allowed to know who it is because of the possibility of reprisal. Same here. Besides, that person nextdoor that you get along so well with now just might change if he/she finds out who they have been arguing with on totv, then there goes the neighborhood.

Thank you. I rarely post but did enjoy reading most of them. Started becoming too hateful and I was on the verge of deleting myself, even if I lost access to other site areas. Again, thanks.

Thanks so much for turning this back to the forum it was always meant to be.

Maybe if we had to use our real names here instead of "cover names" this would help. In Facebook there is a talk group for Villagers. In that group real names are used and it definitely makes a difference.

I think that those who are not happy in The Villages should pack up their toys and go home, do not try to destroy what makes most happy.

Great idea - temporary 1 week ban. Even greater idea - a sub-forum for those that want to rant.

I prefer peace & quiet when I am reading TOTV.

We are also from Allentown........Good Luck and Welcome . We are here 18 yrs. what's not to love.

Please kick the violators off the site for 30 day intervals, and keep records of the violators. Repeat offenders goto detention for 90days, followed by 1 year, followed by expulsion.

After that the mods can go back to just casting out the nasty posts on the other forums. I also think it depends on which mod is on duty as to how long a questionable thread or post gets through. Some of the violations are so blatant you have to wonderful if any mod is monitoring.
