You are right. The moderator will close this thread but not because of anything I said. It will be closed because of all of the rude comments directed at me. So typical. If you say anything that disrupts the village harmony no matter if it's that you don't speed and obey the law you get crucified. I still think that this is a friendly community but I'm not so sure about hypocrites who can't say something without being rude. What the heck is everybody's hurry anyway? This thread really proves two points.

The answer is: No. According to Florida law, you should be in the right lane unless you're passing someone.

Joe - you still haven't addressed the fact the Florida law says to stay right unless passing. Please explain how you feel about this.

The majority of respondents feel you should stick to the right lane unless you are passing, and I agree.

I think that given the situation here in the Villages it is safer to drive in the left lane if going straight or turning left. If someone wants to speed then go for it. Sooner or later they will be caught. I'm doing what I think is safe around here. I don't drive that way everywhere, just here. We're supposed to be retired or close to it so why the rush to speed? There are many people that have been here for years and still don't negotiate the roundabouts correctly. I'll take my chances that the police won't set up a sting operation to catch people like me and I will smile when I pass a radar check point that has a speeder pulled over. I realize that I have made even more enemy's on TOTV because of this thread but I will not be bullied by a bunch of hypocrits either. |

Yeah, it looks that way. The others are probably afraid to respond for fear of being lynched.

Bullied? Lmao! You got exactly what you wanted when you started this thread. The same way you get joy from trying to make people mad on the road.
Your time would probably be better spent trying to find ways to make yourself and others around you happy instead of dreaming up ways to **** them off. But hey, it's your life. |

You feel safer camping out in the left lane knowing you could put yourself and your passengers in a confrontation with a not so happy driver?

So let me ask this, if you see someones dog poop and the owner not pick it up would you tell him to, if you see kids riding on a golf course would you report them, if you observe someone in a hit and run would you try to get their plate number, if you see someone shoplift would you report them? I know these are extreme examples but who has the right tell me to enable a speeder? All moral issues aside, the speed limit is the speed limit. |

As a commuter about 2 hours a day for years on interstates and back roads I believe the worst drivers are those who stubbornly apply rules and substitute them for using sensible judgement. Best drivers are those who facilitate the flow of traffic, regardless of who is going how fast or which lane one is in. Traffic is like a flow of water. If the water is swirling around you on both sides, or stacking up behind you, you are creating chaos, regardless of speed and rules. Rules are less important than safety, and that often means facilitating speeders rather than fighting to be right.
