How about just walking your dog on your own property and letting it do its business…..Why walk to someone elses lawn…….Come on folks, it is just that easy !!!

I do not know where you bushes are located, but I am willing to bet it is mot right next to the street. In addition to the hot pavement not being good to the dog's pad, no one has mentioned the fact that many times as walkers we have to escape into a yard to avoid being hit by golf cart drivers!

actually...

it is the offenders that are few and far between.... I'm sure we all agree that we LOVE the dogs, the owners "not so much", they are the ones with the BIG brain.... I sent a message to my village and asked all dog owners to be respectful of their neighbors and walk their dog at home, pet parks or common areas and I was amazed at how many e-mails I received from dog owners and many non-dog owners that applauded my note and hoped that the note would work. My neighbors would be shocked at how unhappy they are with their neighbor but choose to be a "silent majority". I'll ask the same question, Why, Why, would you do something, whether you believe it is right or wrong, that would make your neighbors upset. It is so much easier to enjoy life in paradise.

No, we don't think its a "bathroom". They potty at their own home. When they are walked, accidents happen. This is the Villages, where dogs are allowed and used to be welcomed.

I will continue to walk my dog and if an accident happens, I will pick it up.

Actually, I think the complainers are few and far between. I have been walking my pup in TV for 6 years, have picked up many piles, and never, ever has anyone ever complained. Ever!

Also, my pup pees on my lawn every day...maybe 5 times a day. My lawn is one of the nicest in the neighborhood. No spots whatsoever. It's plush green.

Actually they are 8ft from the sidewalk and you cant believe how many dog owners let there dogs go near them.

Following this post you can see clearly that the majority of dog owners that post here think it is ok for their dog to walk on anyone's property. You are not going to change their mind. Maybe there should be a law passed that if are caught with your pet on any one's property other than your own then you are fined 100 dollars.

Oh good grief!!!

Don't you ever walk? Dont any of you ever take walks in your neighborhood?? I don't walk in circles in my backyard. My dog does her business in the backyard. WE go for walks. WE both walk. I have never taken a walk without my dog. I will continue to walk in my neighborhood. My neighbors are all very friendly. They walk their dogs as well.

There are so many things here in TV that you could complain about and maybe "fix". This situation will NEVER change. If you are physically able to walk your dog, your gonna do it.....to walk!! Not to potty them!

It isn't gonna change folks. The Villages is a dog friendly community. It will always be a dog friendly community.

Well, possibly the "majority of dog owners that post here", but certainly not the majority of dog owners in TV.

THAT IS EXACTLY RIGHT.

I said I wouldn't get sucked in again to these ridiculous threads that will go on through eternity. But here I go. As those of us who walk our dogs are not going to stop and we cannot and will not guarantee it won't happen on someone's lawn, if it really really really such a big upset, go somewhere else. Otherwise, realize that there will always be things that are annoying to different people and one either gets over it or they just remain miserable about it. This particular situation is not going to change so figure out if you are going to spend your life miserable about something that is out of your control or focus on things that make you happy.

Honest question to those folks who object to dogs being walked in neighborhoods...

If somebody walks their dog in your neighborhood, but the dog never leaves the sidewalk/street, do you still object?

Absolutely not, I have no problem with that.

I don't think such an occasional occurrence is a bid deal. Honest., I don't. :) However...

IMHO, you absolutely could stop it from happening if you chose to. It's pretty simple really...don't let your dog go onto "someone's lawn". I walk my dog in our neighborhood. I guarantee she's not going to do her business on someone's lawn.

Every pet owner has a yard, let your dog pee in his own yard. If I want pee in my yard that I pay good money to keep looking nice I will get my own dog. You can pick up the poop now pick up the pee,its yours. How would like it if I peed in a jar and dumped it in your yard? A little respect for others and their property is all that is asked.

We must be reading different threads
I don't know how you've arrived at the clear conclusion that the majority of dog owners think it is OK for their dog to walk on anyone's property.
Most of us have invisible fencing or take our dogs to dog parks. We do both.
Most dog owners are very respectful of private property.
Of course there are a few inconsiderate dog walkers, but it's rare.
Just like there are a few litterbugs that leave their butts on golf courses.
It bugs me that litterbugs can demean our beautiful golf courses, but really, it's not worth thinking about.

Dogs need exercise and they go for walks.
In some places there are no sidewalks.
If golf carts come along the road, a dog walker may need to step on your property to get out of the way.
Also, when it is very hot, someone may walk on the easement at the front of your property so that their dog's paws don't get burned.
I doubt that merits a fine of $100.

Maybe in Canada that's how it works But in the U.S a easement is not so you can walk your dog on it. When it is unsafe please keep your dog home or take it to a dog park. for the dog's sake
