I have a dog. We take him to the dog park almost daily. Otherwise, he does his business in our yard or in a common area - not in or even near someone's yard. I don't want to possibly walk barefoot or have my grandchildren play in my front yard right after your dog pees or does his business there - even if you "pick it up". It's my property and if I don't want you or your dog in my front yard, that is my right.

I live on a corner lot and I'm appalled at the audacity of those that have retractable leashes and the dogs are literally up in my driveway and my yard. Also, I'm so tired of picking up the poo and cigarette butts that some neighbor leaves nightly on the corner common area beside my home.

People need to respect that others can own and love pets, but it doesn't mean our yards are for there for your convenience.

Who is in control of the leash while the dog is inching to the lawn? How do you promptly pick up the pee when they are marking my property? This thread is not just about dog poop it also includes pee.

By the way, this thread originally was started about irresponsible,inconsiderate pet owners, (see the first post) the dogs are not at fault it is the owners of these pets

I am in complete control of my dog and the leash. She is approx. 2 inches on the grass along the street we are walking. If she poops, I pick up. She has peed at my home, but will mark along the way, as all dogs do. It's an ignorant question to ask me how I pick up the pee drops. I will stay off YOUR street, but as for the rest of TV....give me your address and I'll stay away from your house.

I DO take my pup occasionally to a dog park. Unfortunately she is too hyper and too shy to enjoy herself. Since she was 6 weeks old, I have attempted socializing her with other pups, but she's too skidish. So....for now, we are content with walking on the beautiful streets in TV.

But in a previous thread, you supported FERAL CATS. Where exactly do you think they do their business? Or the rodents, birds, sand cranes, and other wildlife that lives in the Villages?

At least most of the dog owners pick up after their pets. The ones that don't - hang 'em. But the rest are responsible and not violating any laws or restrictions.

gerryann - As highlighted, I think that is the point - your dog is on someone's property other than your property! Why?

Another question you might be able to answer - where do dog walkers take their pets to pee/poop when it is raining? I see the walkers in all of the good weather but never see them in the bad weather and wonder where the dogs relieve themselves on those days.

If we could have some kind of fence, I wouldn,t let my dog near other property.

I am fully aware that my dog is a few inches on to "someone's property". If the temperature is not too hot, she may be on the street with me, but will move to the grass if a car comes by. If you care, deal with it however you feel appropriate. Nobody has ever cared along my many routes.

Do you walk in the rain? I usually don't. My walking has nothing to do with my dog relieving herself. We walk, to walk. She toilets in my yard. Oh...and not that anyone but me cares....I pick up in my yard immedietly after she poops. I will add again, I have an absolutely beautiful lawn.

Gerryann - you've made a point that is worth repeating and perhaps not understood by many. When the weather becomes hot, vets warn that dogs should not be walked on asphalt or concrete to avoid burning their pads. It's like trying to walk on hot sand at the beach.

Try an invisible fence. They work well and contain dogs successfully. We have had one at our last several homes without an issue.

Just for the record re:the feral cat post. I was only commenting about another poster's humane treatment of feral cats. ("Kitty Litter is very passionate about the humane treatment of feral cats. Animal lovers should assist her in any way")

Yes good point, but if you love your dog understand that many of our lawns are like toxic waste sites. I have more poison on my lawn than anyone would want there dog walking on. I have rat poison under the bushes for a rodent issue we have so why would you subject your dog to this.
