Default Orange Blossom Opry

Apologies if this is the wrong forum for this (long time lurker, first time poster), but was wondering if anyone had any comments on the OBO. Good, bad, ...
Going there saturday night to see one of my favorite comedians. I've been going to see him up in Georgia for over 20 years and I was so excited to see that he's performing in this area. If you like good, clean comedy that will keep you rolling, you should check him out. His name is James Gregory and there are 2 shows Saturday.

Haven't been there in a couple of years but certainly enjoyed myself when I was there. Unless things have changed, I'd suggest you bring some comfortable cushions for the chairs. This is not theater seating in any way, shape or form.

When Paula and I rented in The Villages in December we went to the Orange Blossom Opry on a night when they had non-regulars perform, too. There was a 10-year-old girl there who sounded like Patsy Cline. She was incredible. We enjoyed the venue tremendously, particularly me, because in my youth I went to a WWVA Jamboree (the Wheeling radio station) that came to the Fairmont Armory and I've gone to a Willie Nelson concert near Youngstown at a park venue. I'm not into fancy Carnegie Halls, although I have nothing again them. Simple but good is just my comfort zone. We look forward to going to the Orange Blossom specials again when we rent in January-March 2015 on Rainbow Drive off No. 5 green of Silver Lake Golf Club.

Thanks for the head's up. Got tickets for the evening show. If you see someone gimping around with a sprained ankle, come say hi. Dee

Default Been twice

and enjoyed it both times, and we are not really country music fans. Good musicians, entertaining shows, nice evening out, something a little different. We are also starting to go to plays by the various theater groups in The Villages. Some mostly good talent here.

I go regularly, mostly for the "guest stars" series. Have tickets for a number of their shows this winter including Riders in the Sky ("Woody the wooden Cowboy")and Rhonda Vincent and the Rage. Keskin is there in November.

It is located in what was once the gym/auditorium of a school. Nice intimate feel. You can see the performers clearly, even from the last row. I think the seats are comfortable - much more so than Savannah Center

Good to know about the seats. As I said, it's been a few years.

Thanks for all the help! Glad you're going, redwitch. I was a little disappointed that so few tickets have sold, I guess folks around here haven't heard of him.
You won't be disappointed. We have a group of 16 going and only two of us have ever seen him before. Good times.

In short -
It's not as good as when Estelle and Earl ran it.
We've been disappointed in the new cast and shows.
