Default Orlando airport transportation question

I have a family of 4 coming to visit next month. There are 2 adults and 2 children in car seats. It is going to cost us$210 to $$240 to get them to and from the airport because I can't get them all into my car. Any suggestions? Know of any place to rent a full size van by the day?

Enterprise at Spanish Springs and Lake Sumter. However, the Villages Airport Van system works great. Just something to consider.

You can have them rent a car from Enterprise at the airport and return it to Enterprise at Lake Sumter Landing. Or from Hertz and return it to Spanish Springs. My husband did that when he came it at midnight. It worked out great.

Renting a car to and from may be a bit less expensive than a van sevice but just think about this.

Mom, dad and 2 tired kids with car seats in tow plus luggage. Going to pick up a rental car etc...

I'd go with Village Airport Van Service. They pick you up and they load the van with all the luggage get the car seats in and all this will be less stress for mom and dad, trust me!

So it'll cost you $140.00 each way plus a nice tip, but hey door to door service can't be beat.

Can you tell I really like this company?

" It is going to cost us $210 to $$240 to get them to and from the airport because I can't get them all into my car."

How about it will cost THEM?

Anyhow, the rental car from the airport to The Villages one way is a decent idea but I would agree that the Villages Shuttle Bus (the official one) is the best idea. The Villages Airport Van is unreliable on times. You can easily spend up to 3 hours in it if you are the last to be dropped off.

Just chalk the cost up to the price of a great family visit.

Have you looked at the cost of a private limo or taxi? A google search for Limo MCO will give you a wide selection. I think there are also private individuals who advertise in the Daily Sun but I would ask about insurance. Lastly, depending on how long they will be visiting, would it make sense for them to rent a car at MCO? If they can't fit in your car for the ride, what will you do if you all want to go outside the bubble? I just checked hotwire.com for one week in June you can get a compact car for 145 per week. You may do better with name your own price or looking at other travel websites. I have not found that young families can't handle the additional 30 mins to get a car rental. You'll wait that long for the van.

I personally also like the Villages Airport Van. We have used them many...many...many times. My husband used them every 3 weeks for almost 3 years. Once we sent our daughter, son-in-law, and baby to airport and they brought the car seat back to our home. I like the door to door service.

Do Hertz car rental and upgrade to a full size. Hertz is just down to the lower level, walk across the bus parking area and up the escalator. No van trip to Enterprise with a family. Just a short walk to Hertz and return to Spanish Springs. Same for the return. Easy drop off and just walk across to the terminal. Actually on the return it's and underground tunnel with moving walkway. Cost will be about $75 each way and they will be in a full size car with lots of room. I have used Hertz, Avis and Enterprize. When alone I do who ever is cheaper, with lots of people, I use Hertz if dropping in TV. If I am keeping the car while in TV I use Avis. Again on site at Orlando access and easy return.

I'm not sure which of the van services it is, but at least one of them doesn't charge for children under age 4. Call and ask. They also don't charge for active duty military. So, your total cost may only be $140.00 (the two adults).

This may sound like a dumb question, but aren't you going to need some way to take them places while they are here? Plus getting back to airport. It may make more sense to rent a van.

Do you need reservations for the shuttle service? How far in advance do you need to call them. Our flight gets in Orlando at noon on Thursday.

The official Villages Airport shuttle now offers to pick/drop you off at your house for $10. They will take you to Lake Sumter for the main bus.
