Default Home & Auto Insurance

We have finally made it here and we are settling on a home on Oct. 10th. We have had Erie insurance our entire lives and were quite happy however they do not write in Florida. So we are looking at AAA and The Villages Insurance. Would love to hear what you guys that have lived here a while and have insurance with either one of these have to say. One has a $500 deductible for hurricane and the other a $4000 deductible. Also what does Other Structures cover? Thanks in advance.

Am surprised that your agent didn't offer any suggestions. USAA doesn't write property insurance here any longer, but were happy to arrange coverage via another company.

You might want to look into sinkhole insurance also. We used the Villages insurance agent as they were very competitive.

We were shopping around this year for auto insurance after ours went up (no accidents or tickets). I got quotes from several companies including Geico, Allstate, State Farm, etc. I got the best rate through AAA with a company called Safeco. I was paying $1200 through ASI and was able to get $700 through Safeco. As far as homeowner's insurance check with Allstate 753-4340. Talk to Elaine they write for several Florida companies for homeowner's insurance.

Be sure to read your policy. Have found not all companies provide the same protection. You get what you pay for and a huge difference like you quoted does not make sense.

Actually I used to do insurance quotes for auto and homeowners the past three years in my job. I was able to compare apples with apples and got the exact same coverage through Safeco. We do have excellent credit, no history of accidents or tickets. That makes a big difference in quotes as well.
