After the first of the year, there will be an outdoor expo at Hacienda Rec. All of the activities which you named were covered except for hunting. But, I'm sure that if you ask nicely, there are a snipe hunts after dark on the golf courses...

I will be down there on 12 Oct and after unpacking will be looking for hikes / nature trips. I know nothing about the area for that sort of stuff but will be investigating. If you come up with something let me know.

Greg, I'm Floridian. there's so much to do in the wild here...but no response on this little thread, but if you pm me when you get here I can get you started. We are surrounded by wild.

Kitty, I will put a in a plug for Discovery Kayaks and Ryan Toler. Ryan does the kayak demos each month in TV, and we have been on many day trips with him as guide. We have also been hiking and bird watching at some of the Florida state parks. We have not been camping yet, but the state parks have some great campgrounds. The bartenders at Cody's were telling the guys about boar hunting in the Ocala forest!
