Hi: We are in the process of possibly planting some Queen Palms. Can I ask why you're removing yours?

Off the thread somewhat, but my wife and I regret planting palms. We have 4 sylvesters, which have super nasty eye losing thorns, a pindo and a European fan.

If you truly need a palm plant a pindo. Slow growing, hardy and lovely.

Unless you have more money that Amazon, don't plant a queen. They get huge like sylvesters and you'll need to hire folks.

Else, ignore all this and just enjoy!

Do yourself a favor. Don’t plant a queen. You will regret it. We had 3 removed. It gets expensive. They don’t belong in central FL.

A blacklisted palm. In boynton beach, in the development where my friend lives you are not allowed to plant one. He has three of them. Grandfathered and blacklisted palms.

I recently heard of a company who will buy your palm tree and remove it rather then cutting it down.
Did anyone else hear of this????

Default Maintenance for landscaping

Suggestions please... we r planning on landscaping which will include a Sylvester, Bismarck , & mule palm. Since it sounds like u have landscaped extensively Can u Recc a company that will maintain the palms, bushes, which would include fertilizing & trimming and weeding beds? TIA & sorry if a bit off topic.

Beware, they are expensive to keep trimmed. About every 3 months. They get diseases. One of ours is pushing up the driveway. Beware of where you plant them.

Agree. We had 7 Queen palms removed. 5 died. 1 was pushing up our driveway and the walkway to the front door and the 7th grew so tall the next step was to hire a bucket truck to maintain it. Glad we have no more Queen palms on our property to maintain. Their seed pods can get to be 75 pounds, maybe more.

Queens get huge, need trimming often, the pods are large and very heavy. If you let one go to seed you will have palms growing everywhere for years. There are some companies that will remove the entire tree and fill the hole etc. They are not extremely valuable so it will still cost you some money.
