Default Donating Jig Saw Puzzles

We are in downsizing mode and have several challenging jig saw puzzles in excellent condition and have no idea what to do with them. They are far too challenging for young children, but I am wondering whether nursing homes or extended living facilities would accept them. I really hate to just throw them out.

At one time some of the Rec Centers would have puzzles laid out on tables for anyone to walk up and work on, but Covid might have ended that.

They used to do that at Seabreeze and also Colony. You might want to give them a call.

Miona Rec Center has a puzzle library and there is also a new Puzzles on Wheels service that accepts them. Puzzles on Wheels in The Villages, Florida

Silver Lake rec center maintains a collection of them for lending.

The Goodwill stores sell them.

I'm trying to send as little as possible to Goodwill, I would rather donate them.

Many thanks to the people who posted suggestions.

As an avid jigsaw puzzle devotee myself, I also recommend giving them to rec centers that accept them. I'm so grateful to all who have contributed to our libraries!

FYI .. take them to the Silver Lake Rec center .. in Silver Lake by the golf course there is a puzzle room, residents can visit, borrow and return .. great place for those rainy days and cognitive alertness..

You also take to the Christain Care Center located at First Baptist Church in Leesburg right on 27 south, they have children and families that are housed there until they can get back on their feet. If in doubt take a tour and see all the wonderful help that is provided to everyone in need.

Plus the Thrift Store/owned and operated by FBC on 441 just east of 27 at the split ..

You could take them to Centsible Furnishings. They’d love to have them.

Puzzles on Wheels is always accepting donations. It is run like a library for residents in The Villages. Puzzles are checked out through the website and then the puzzles are delivered to the front door of the resident. Returned puzzles are picked up when new puzzles are selected. No charge for anything.

Puzzles on Wheels is a brilliant idea. Especially good for the temporarily or permanently housebound. Puzzles were one of the things suggested for my very elderly fil to keep his brain active. Other things, BTW, were word search puzzles and blackjack.
