Default Will TV change with the times.

I know alot of people love the sports love the activities that TV offers but will they change with the times of the new generations that come in. I've always wondered this and being probably one of the younger transplants coming to TV I just wondered.

While I love living here, I would like to see the addition of other activities. As an example, my wife and I are avid stand up paddle boarders (SUP). Stand up paddleboarding is the fastest growing recreational activity in the U.S. I have posted on the "clubs" forum and there are a number of people interested in giving it a try. It is an excellelnt form of exercise, but not too physically demanding. I have taught beginning paddle boarders from seven to seventy years of age, so it is an activity that anyone can participate in. It is a great way to enjoy our beautiful environment, as you can paddle on lakes, rivers and the ocean. I would love to start such a club here, but I have not had much luck in finding out how to go about organizing a club. I still go out and paddle a few times a week, usually on Lake Miona but also on the gulf side and at Crystal River, but it would be nice to share my enthusiasm with others.

This is just my own personal example. With thousands of new residents coming in in the coming years, I am certain there must be many other activities that people would like to participate in as residents. Perhaps if it was a little easier to start a new club (or the information on "how to" was easier to find), people can continue to participate in their favorite activities for many years to come.

Not to hijack the thread...but to Cappy's, question, the process is pretty simple. Go to your nearest regional rec center (La Hacienda?) and talk to the staff at the main desk. They will give you the form. You fill it out, it gets approved as a viable new club, gets advertised in Thurs Rec news for a couple of weeks and then is a go for meetings/action. The staff will talk you through the process.

Now, back to the topic at hand.

Other than music and dancing....not sure what today's 40 year olds will want in 15-20 years that is different from today's offerings.

On a stand up it teaches you balance very fast. !!!!! I'm not letting some Gator Snapper make me lunch!

Some friends of mine were in SC in two Kayaks. The tide went out. They were both rescued by police screaming as their boats got stuck on a sand bar with gators pushing them around with their noses.

Yelling "Go away Bad Gator did not work!"

Well, this is a community designed for people 55 and older, and since the average age is probably close to 70 the activities are geared toward that age group. Currently the music is mostly 50s and 60s, in a few years it will inch up to the 70s and 80s. Hang around long enough and it will catch up with you.

Well, Whippersnapper, there may be some that you think are lame, but.... as long as there is continued turnout for the activity, why should you care?

Diversity of activities is endless around here. That's a wonderful thing!
I, for one welcome anything (legal, moral and ethical) that anyone can think of to organize. Wether I choose to participate or not doesn't matter.... cool, hip OR lame!

Heck, I hear we have a kazoo band here! I LOVE that!

But you didn't answer my question yet....
What would YOU like to see in the way of revised, contemporary activities?

Some of the new activities that have started since I moved here 3 years ago are segwaying (is that a word?), sand volleyball, and zumba. I'm sure there are more, but these are the ones that come to mind. There are also many new art classes that didn't exist when I moved here, so I'd say TV IS changing with the times.

PS: Speaking of changing with the times... Remember to 'fall back' this weekend

I guess i just don't know whats all out there yet. I was not asking why does not it I was asking does it? I do aerial VR flight with VR goggles controlling remote control planes for up to 20 miles. I'm sure there is a RC group there i could share this hobby with.

Also boring stuff im into like scale models and electrical engineering.

TV doesn't keep up with the times it LEADS it.

Sorry. Grumpy this morning.

Maybe because I can't get to all the stuff to do I want to do and can't get done all the stuff I have to do.

We will be arranged soon. This morning I realized we got rid of a piece of furniture we should have kept.

I wanna PLAY!
