Default Nancy Lopez Pool Bar

What a disgrace and embarrassment. This has been closed since March supposedly for renovation but nothing has been started and the facility is a filthy mess. The women's rest room is not cleaned nor maintained. Sure hope its not heading for permanent closure.

Did the management at Lopez give you answers at what is going on with repairs and corrections?

I called them last week and was told there was a delay with the remodeling as the permits were delayed. Was told it would now be the end of May (?) before complete. I cannot speak to the cleanliness. Is it easier to b***h and moan here than call and ask?

I have not been to Lopez, mostly because I would need a "priority" membership and I think that SUCKS!

I used to go to Orange Blossom Hills every now and then (really enjoyed the old tiki bar), but right after they remodeled the pool area (looks nice!), it became a "priority" membership just for those that play golf enough to justify having "priority" membership...I wonder who's money was used to remodel? Maybe it was just "priority" members money??

I really enjoy the Villages, and I see a lot of good things around me, but the "Priority" crap rubs me the wrong way (especially when I pay the same amenity fees as my neighbors, and I suspect everyone of us paid for the remodel, but only those that want to pay extra can use it).

Lopez pool bar and all country club restaurants are open to everyone. It's just the pools that are only available to priority members.

Thanks for adding that...I should have mentioned I would like to use the pools that I suspect we all payed to remodel.

I hope it is OK if I don't want to golf? That would leave more tee times for others.

I also feel there are plenty of places to get a drink and eat these days, and many of those other choices are better rated.

Amenity fees have nothing to do with country club pools or restaurants.

Glad to hear that, How sure are you?

Do you have any idea where the funds for the remodel of those pool areas were acquired? Just curious...

Orange Blossom was always like that. It didn't "change" after it was spruced up. I think you would enjoy the presentation The Villages give on how things work.

You really don't have a clue! You can get just priority pool. It is very inexpensive. Nothing to do with golf.

Read it quick... it will not stay here long. The misinformation will stay and the rest will disappear.

I understand there was an impasse between the developer and the Lopez Oasis pool bar as to sharing the cost of the renovation. I'm not sure if there has been a resolution.

My theory is that the only reason they closed in the middle of Busy Season would be that they were shut down by the Board of Health for violations. The place has been there for 15 years and it's not improbable to think that the built up grease was holding up the walls. Any better theories on why they would close for the entire busy season instead in the summer?

No I don't, but we have a lot of people on the committee to think up things as to why the greedy developer and other successful businesses are up to no good, are failing, are suspicious, and are up to something. If you just wait, one of them will deliver.
