Unless you are getting an added bonus for having a new card, for most people paying by credit card is not the prudent thing to do. Even if your bill is only $3,000 you will pay a $75 convenience fee. Most credit cards get no more than 2% cash back which would be $60. So it is costing you $15. If you have the money in the bank (which I assume those of you who are paying the balance in full do) then just use the savings to pay the tax bill and save $15. If you don't have an escrow account, I suggest you open a separate bank account (one with no fees) and start putting 1/12th of your tax payment in account each month.

Absolutely 100% correct however the first post in this thread was referring to an $800-$1000 bonus with a Chase Sapphire Preferred credit card after $4000 spend as a reason for paying taxes with a credit card. As usual message threads go way off the original track because people rarely read beyond the first few posts.
