Smile Pelicans

There are about 50 Pelicans on the small pond on Kim St. Is this normal I thought Pelicans stayed near the oceans or bays? What could they be eating here. Have seen them for the last 6 or 7 days.

You are seeing migratory White Pelicans. They stay here for about a week and then will move northward. Observe how they actually work as a team to herd fish into a ball shape and then they take turns scooping them into their bills.

The Brown Pelicans will be found on the coasts and are non-migratory.

Yesterday and on Sat AM white pelicans were on the pond off Bonita Blvd. Nice surprise to see them. They weren't there this morning.
