Default Are people you met on TOTV like you expected?

Many of us have made friends here on TOTV. When you meet people in person, have there been any surprises? Would you care to comment on the people that you have met here. (Be nice!)

I think that most people are surprised about how old I am. (My avatar picture must flatter me.) Heavens knows what else surprises them.

Sometimes I expect that people will be shorter, taller, shyer. have unaccented speech like my Ohioese....etc.

Gracie,

You are even nicer in person. I look nothing like my avatar picture (at least I hope not). I have met lots of folks in person - have really liked them all.

After my last post (which I admit was a bit mean), I don't think I want to meet SABRm.

I remain somewhat amazed that every TOTVer I've met is Good People!

I'm also still amazed at the number of folks I meet who are actually shocked that I've ever met with and enjoyed someone I met on line!

Of course, There's something really special about this venue. Maybe it's something we drink?

I have met Boomer. She talks just like she writes. Boomer is prone to hyperbole sometimes.

I like Boomer OK..... most of the time. She acts a lot like I do. Boomer smiles at you. Boomer likes to be around people. Boomer's favorite person is Mr. Boomer.

Somebody once told Boomer that she has a knowing look in her eyes. I do not know what that meant. Perhaps Boomer just needs to have her eyelids done.

Boomer never tells anybody what her job was. Some people seem to think she was an English major. But Boomer won't even tell if that part is true. Boomer is awfully cagey about what kind of job she had.

One time somebody told Boomer that she must have been a tavern wench in her last life. The person who told Boomer this said that because Boomer likes to get around the room a bit and chat people up. Boomer tells stories sometimes. But Boomer likes to listen to other people's stories, too. At least that is what I think that woman who said that to Boomer must have been talking about. The woman smiled and even laughed when she said it.

Upon being called a reincarnated tavern wench, Boomer said, "Thank you. I do like to get around the room and smile and talk with people and have fun and I guess it shows." Boomer was not offended. hmmmmmmm..... should she have been????

Anyway, the next time Boomer was in an antique store, she spotted a beer stein that had a picture of -- you guessed it -- a tavern wench who was chatting up some German guys who were drinking beer. And Boomer bought that beer stein and took it home and proudly displays it on her mantel.

It could happen that before 2009 is over, Boomer may show up sometime at Crispers. But she will insist that nobody takes her picture. And Boomer has been nagging me to try to get her to TV in time for Oktoberfest.

Yes, I have met Boomer.

Neat bumper sticker. Went like this: "It's God's job to judge terrorists. Our job is to arrange the meeting!"

aww, common, SABRMnlgs, The majority of us are good folks, mabe just a little opinionated?

Personally, I have found most TOTV'rs to be great, warmhearted, people, in fact Im still amazed at the fact that so many really nice people can be concentrated all in one area!

Gracie, you are one special lady, I admire you so much.

I found out that when you put up a avatar that people believe that it is really you! Since everyone was using dogs, cats, etc, I used my lovely model from a department store that I sell clothes on for Ebay. She is what I would have liked to look like but time has a way of changing the looks. My model has long blonde hair, very, very tall and slim, beautiful fine features and looks to be in the 20,s. Our first meeting of TOTV everyone on line many moons ago was expecting this great gal and I turn up! Just who was she and what is she doing in the Retirement Community? Maybe third wife of a resident that robbed the cradle? It was so real that certain TOTV members said that they had to use a Mag. glass (I won,t say who) to make sure that it was truly a model and I think that everyone was happy that Time for Tee was only Grandma Me.

T4T, Personally, I am very happy that you are who you are and that your a friend of mine.

Remember in the "old" days before TOTV lunches, we all had pictures of when we were younger but after the first meeting, I guess we decided, who's kidding who. ??

When are you coming back.. Miss you.... Kath (remember I used to be the shy one???) yeah sure.

Yeah, well I'm stickin' with my favorite little dog Buddy. As I have said before, he's WAY cuter than me.

So far only one TOTVer has met me to verify my looks. If you trust debokla, you can ask her about me. I'm sure she'll say something like "oh she's a definite IVGLDSW" (short for: International Very Good Looking Damn Smart Woman).
