Default Pergola building code

We are thinking about installing a louvered or lattice pergola behind our lanai. It will be attached to the house and the two outside legs on a footing. Has anyone else installed one, are there hurricane codes we need to meet?

If you have not already, educate yourself on your covenants and restrictions. Additions are one thing covered in them that may need approval.

Call the local building department, IF you can get ARC approval, there will be at least one building permit required. You may need an engineer's drawing for the ARC approval.
